The plant is: Nemophila menziesii “Baby Blue Eyes” , it’s a annual plant...
@motherlandbot68373 жыл бұрын
It's native to California and other West Coast states in the US, where it flowers in the cool spring, then sets seed and dies in the summer drought and heat. Japanese plant breeders have selected seed grown stains for better and longer flower production and vigor. They have done the same with Prairie Gentian (Eustoma grandiflora) another native US wildflower that they have bred in double flowered forms for the cut flower and garden trade as Lisianthus.
@amritapritam28913 жыл бұрын
So I can see these flower anytime in a year
@motherlandbot68373 жыл бұрын
@@amritapritam2891 No. Japanese plant breeders have extended the blooming season of Nemophila, so they start blooming earlier in late winter and early spring and stop blooming later in late spring, and also produce more flowers on larger more spreading plants than wild Nemophila. These Japanese bred Nemophila still die when it gets hot. In this park, they are then removed and replaced with summer blooming plants and Burning Bushes (which look like pale slightly yellowish green conifers during the summer and turn bright pinkish red to bright red in the autumn). Nemophila's lifecycle is adapted to three things: daylength, rainfall, and temperature. In its' natural wild habit, rainfall occurs mostly during the cool but not very cold winter months, when days are shortest. This is the main growth period for Nemophila plants. In the late winter and spring, rainfall declines, and daylength increases, but temperatures at night are still cool. This is when Nemophila flowers. Towards late spring, the plant stops flowering and ripens its' seeds, then dies in summer, when their is no rain, and temperatures and daylength are greatest. The seeds don't sprout in the summer because there is no rain and the heat of the sun also keeps them from sprouting. In autumn, as rains start to resume, days get shorter, and temperatures start to drop, the seeds sprout. Because the winters in Nemophila's natural habitat are not very cold, the plants from these seeds continue to grow whenever temperatures are above freezing. Meteorologists refer to this type of climate - cool but not very cold, rainy winters, dry, very warm, rainless summers - as a "Mediterranean climate", because it is what the climate is like in most of the countries of Southern Europe bordering on the Mediterranean Sea. This climate is also typical of our US West Coast, and coastal South Africa (which is in the Southern hemisphere, so their seasons by month are the opposite of ours).
@motherlandbot68373 жыл бұрын
@@amritapritam2891 KZbin removes my comments with external links to photos. A search for images of "Nemophila California" will show you the difference between wild and Japanese bred Nemophila when both are in full bloom. The Japanese bred plants produce a much denser display of larger, rounder, deeper blue, more closely spaced flowers.
