Would love to see some reviews on the more middle price range equipment. Irons, Metals/Woods from brands like Cleveland, Tour Edge, Srixon etc. Some more variety outside of the big 4 or 5 main companies that IS a bit more "every man". In a sense we know that the big brand equipment is going to be good quality, but maybe some more of the better value for money stuff that's 90% as good, but 60% of the price. Love all the content, keep it up!

I was in a PGA Superstore in the US week before last and one of the staff had left out an email from Callaway which had clearly been sent out to suppliers detailing how to broach customers who had been complaining because the black on the sole of the club wears out pretty quickly apparently! The email was saying to tell customers it doesn’t affect performance etc and it isn’t covered under warranty… so if you’re paying £2k because they look good… beware! Rick - any chance you can reach out to Callaway for confirmation/comment?

I saw these the other day at Golf Mart and they do look good, the price was a tick over two grand...whatever, I'm not interested in buying them anyways. Four years of research and development, head scratching, more r&d, the finished product here is an experiment of pushing the needle past 10 just because Callaway can. Titleist had done something similar in their CNCPT irons a few years ago and charged more than these I think, nothing new. Cobra with their new 3D irons would be another example.

1996 Ping ISI Nickel iron set with graphite cost £1485.00. r.r.p no discounts available in those days. I've seen some terrible examples of the black coming off, Callaway talk about this being the most durable of all the black finishes as part of the justification of cost, i.e. buy once and keep these for many years. Clearly they got this wrong and need to address, either improve the finish, Patina is one thing, wear over years and flaking is another. If they can't then they need to quickly bring out a silver finish. And offer those who have already purchased a good trade in exchange and let people decide. If you think it's cool to play well with a crappy looking set of clubs (which can have appeal) then you can buy with eye's open and if you like your stick to look good go for silver. If you ever saw Seve's irons in his bag you could shave off the reflection they were immaculate.

With golf experiencing the most popularity it's ever had, with more people taking up the game than ever before, it really feels like the manufacturers are taking us for a ride with the cost of new equipment. The differences provided by the new equipment can be argued to be quite negligible making the second hand club market by far the best option for the majority of us. It feels like the money being poured into the purses and sponsorship etc of the elite professional players is being propped up at the expense of us, the fans of the game. It's no wonder the direct to consumer brands like Kirkland, Takomo etc are getting super popular.

Why is the “sweet spot” larger with titanium than it would be with steel? Science please 🧐
@bruhnvhАй бұрын
I'm not a golf club engineer, so I'm not privy to the design details the folks at Callaway are tweaking. When most folks think of titanium, they likely think of the high strength to weight ratio it has compared to steel, and reduced weight certainly comes into play. But a lot of people probably aren't aware that titanium has a little more than half the modulus of elasticity of steel. In general terms, that means that it flexes more under a given stress than steel does, which will play a role in energy transfer on impact. I'd wager that's a big factor.
@robertflint4115Ай бұрын
@@bruhnvh Flexes more under given stress of a human swinging it hitting a golf ball? How measurable is that? Now if we are talking tons of pressure generated like that of the landing gear of an airplane and that stress. Which is a 100 times more of what a human can generate swinging a golf club. Long story short: Humans do not generate enough force/stress for the "science" to come into play. At least not enough of a difference that a human can notice. A 1" sweet spot on a titanium club in general is the same as a 1" sweet spot of a steel club.

@HITGolfReviews I get that you need to keep making content (nothing against Rick, one of my favorite channels)but this club is just a gimmick like the other “longer” irons. It does look pretty but that 7 is actually a 6 iron, huge sole to bounce the duffs and no more than a beginners club with a YUGE price tag to get people talking about it along with its striking appearance. How about use the 8 from the set to see what it actually does to compare? Why not make actual blades in Ti to compare apples to apples if the Ti vs Steel is actually better? Ti weighs much less so it won’t happen w/o inserting tungsten for weight/energy transfer. Apex Ti.. The Porsche powered by a honda civic engine. Rick, update this review using the 8 iron 34.5* vs a standard 7. I’m betting you’ll have to shorten to 170yd to reach the green. Not to be so hard on Callaway but this is a flop. Just my two cents.
