I agree that they were painted white to make the lights more effective, reflect more light in the room off the wall and ceiling. They did the same with wooden sailing ships below deck to help the oil lamps by reflecting the light. Great video.

When I bought my house in the early 80's , I found out it was originally a Quarry office built by a German engineer immigrated in the late 40's . He built what thought was a root cellar , funny thing was it had 90 degree entrance doors , poured ceiling and walls painted white. I always thought they were white because of how dark it was down there and didn't take much to light it up. Love the videos guys !

With all those guns lined up like that, nothing would have been able to move on the water without being seen, and challenged. Love the way the white walls, in the bunkers, are still looking fairly bright, and clean, despite the farmers rubbish, and that little MG bunker was so interesting. The noise inside with the MG's firing would have been ear splitting in itself, but, with the guns firing nearby, at the same time, you wouldn't even be able to think straight. Shame the farmers have left so much rubbish, and junk in, and around, those bunkers, and gun emplacements. That area would be so interesting to metal detect! Thank you guys, for sharing this fascinating location! Looking forward to seeing what else was there, in part 2! Cheers to you both!

Excellent video with many great features. I often wonder what the German military thought when they built all these positions along the Atlantic Wall and many never saw action and they didn’t stop the Allied invasion. The white paint was used to help with lighting in the otherwise dark conditions in these bunkers. I wonder if the foundation Eagle Eyes found was not a barrack but a kitchen to serve the troops there. Always a surprise to see how big some of these underground positions are. Keep up the great explorations.

Such an awesome location. Thats a lot of firepower they had along the coast. That last bunker was pretty cool. Maybe it was underneath the kitchens. Who's to know now? Hi, Here were six 155 mm French GPF guns (taken), under the German designation 15.5cm K.418 (f), mounted on pivoting platforms (schwere Drehbettung mit Pivotzapfen). You showed us this type of artillery piece during the video about Kvalvik. Superb Marine battery, great video.

Another very interesting Hitler's Atlantic Wall military defensive. I could understand why the Germans would want to have control and protect from allies. Probably white walls as not as much light is needed to illuminate. I do that in my smaller rooms. (My Fem Den). Those bayonets, 20 MM, and Panzer tracts will look awesome when restored. You are learning many valuable skills from your father, EE. I have a feeling you celebrate Father's Day in November. I know in Germany it is May as I have friends from there. Anyway no matter what day you celebrate, you are an awesome Father HH and deserve the best no matter what day it is. :) Another amazing place. Thank you for taking us there HH and EE.
