As much as I like Hitman 2 for its high quality gameplay, stern difficulty, excellent orchestra and composer and absolutely vibrant selection of locale; the majority of the issues when this mission and a few others is played is apparent - 47 is plonked in the most logically inconsistent method possible; In the clear eyeshot of a sniper who targets you (and this is a near instantaneous death if he pops a shot on you on your arse on Professional), a truck (whom the driver doesn't hesitate to say anything, if at all), 2 ninja patrollers with no disguise distinction (explained: they look and react ALL the same) and the level design is constricted to a linear slogfest of not just repeated failures due to AI clipping the truck and dying but ID checks (which completely goes against the disguise system regardless of realism) and a complete disregard for enemy placement (ninja's are placed on the mainland all over the place with no forethought) and patrol route (they do not alternate in a way that gives a window to the player, "disordered, random" to quote 47 in HITMAN 2016). I have only ever managed once to get Professional on Professional or something close due to the design being engineered to prevent the player from "exploiting" those windows but this just constraints the ideals of the games mechanics. The ICA pickup is also placed in a way that negates the sensibilities of 47's job to the point of absurdity; he's supposed to be avoiding the patrols (and thus, avoiding political backlash and his death/capture) not engaging them in close proximity. Missions beyond this point become increasingly retarded in approach and give less to the player...in fact you are capable of being drilled by a clone near the end, negating your plans of escape because of that agents high damage. This happened to me at least 3-4 times. Placing such entities this close to a patrolling ninja is conspicuous and very odd choice design wise. Adding challenge that is not grounded in its own reality to be modest. Further issues I still see in some Hitman games is the strange use of "sight cornering" which enemies are intentionally patrol for extremely long sessios of time creating an iresome, unrewarding and overt punishment due their sheer ubiquitity and overuse, the Ninja's themsleves are unable - at least in comparison - to create sounds or humoursly be distracted by ID checks themselves. Hidden Valley is quite possibly, the worst mess of open-ended and excessively linear design with schizophrenic pacing with too little window of opportunity I've seen to date in a stealth game. The fan-service just as you meet your assassination target might have well have been Lei-Mei giving 47 the best titjob of his life for the slogging stealthfest this mission is.

The mission isn't as hard as you think if you study the map and figure out the route of least resistance. Don't rely on trucks to carry you, since they spawn and stop randomly in random locations and you can randomly get caught while you're inside. The route is simple. 1. Go to the basement ladder close to the pickup and enter the tunnel. Now you've bypassed heavy patrols in the tunnel entrance. Now you have to sneak by the 3 patrolling ninjas near the first bend of the tunnel to the 3rd basement ladder. This bypasses the heavy patrols on the surface up to the point where the valley bisects. 2. Exit the tunnel through the 3rd basement ladder and head to the 4th ladder through the surface. This is the part of the valley where there is one paroling guard and leads to a dead end. You can one shot kill that guard and still maintain SA. 3.Head to the tunnel down the 4th ladder and sneak by the 3 ninjas in the 2nd bend of the tunnel. This bypasses the dead end of the valley on the surface. Now you can exit the tunnel from the 5th ladder and run to the exit. This bypasses the security at the end of the tunnel. Sneaking past the 2 sets of patrolling ninjas in the 2 bends of the tunnel is the tricky part. But you can do it by ducking from pillar to pillar and going forward. They go zig zag from pillar to pillar, When a ninja patrols towards you, bypass him by going through the opposite side of the pillar. You also have to watch out for the lone ninjas patrolling the ladder areas. The trucks most likely won't clip through enemies if you don't get into them. They probably added this and ''At the gates'' as pure stealth/infiltration kind of missions to add some variety to the regular style missions.

IO definetly fixed all the issues people had with Codename 47 but then they replaced all those criticisms with something even more atrocious, particularly the Detection System. Thank God they fixed it in Contracts. But imagine if the first two games had the same AI and Mechanics as Contracts and Blood Money, it would've been the greatest Quadrology of all time.

Thank you for the video i was very upset for the "guards are now looking for a suspicious ninja" message that randomly appears in the middle of the mission or the eagle view sniper but after seeing your video and following your steps i got SA in a little more than 10 tries. The "suspicious ninja" message and the sniper message don't count as an alert so i started to not worrying about these bugs. But in some tries i got "a guard discovered a dead body" message (when i didn't kill anyone) and that lead to an alerted guards message. But if you have patience and acept the bugs, you will get SA eventually. Ps: sorry for my english 😅 i hope you can understand my experience and this help others in this old but amazing game.

I always get spotted by one of the patrols on the last truck exiting the tunnels. I sit all the way in the back and squat down but I always get 2 alarms. One guy gets hit by a truck sounding one alarm, then I get spotted on the truck and the highest rating I can get is professional. What console are you running this on?

The guards always found me in the truck. So I strangled the white dressed ninja took his uniform and went further down to the trees snuck past the one guard and went down the ladder there and the next one I went up took me to the exit point. I got detected by one black uniform ninja and still got Silent Assassin.

Got 2 bogus alerts rating professional 9:50 seconds to finish. One bogus alert was a truck must have hit a ninja or something because I didn't kill anyone and the alert was found a dead ninja. And the other was climbing down the ladder guards are looking for a suspicious ninja which seems to be part of the mission anyway.

How do I not get spotted by the snipers? I'm getting fed up with this and I'm about to quit the game... If you ask me, the Hitman series wasn't any good until Blood Money. The concept of the games was great, but the execution was fatally flawed. Glitchy unforgiving AI such as this made the games frustrating, even unplayable... I sometimes wonder whether they playtested the first three games at all Luckily, they finally worked out the kinks in Blood Money, and the series has only been getting better since then

I think it's a little too late but i want to respond yoy anyways :p. The snipers spotting you doesn't count as an alarm so this doesn't ruin the SA score. The only preocupation is to not get shooted by them. I started the HD trilogy a few days ago and decided to play the Hitman 2 first, its buggy and very slow but i have patience, i got SA in the first ten missions. I hope you are right about Blood money i'm starting to love the hitman series.
