I was diagnosed with HIV / AIDs 5 years ago today... on my 27th birthday. I had a CD4 count of 169 which is considered full-blown AIDs. Time to look back and see how far I've come. I had no idea that I could possibly have HIV and the only reason why I went to the doctor is because I was dealing with some crazy bad symptoms that wouldn't go away.

Your story is empowering people with recently reactive for HIV rapid test and are recently diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. I want to let you know that you continue to be a beacon of light for those who are put in the darkness by HIV/AIDS and more importantly, the stigma that comes with it.

Hi Raif, my name is Xavier, Not Sure if you remember me, we worked together for a short time (about 5yrs ago) in a Cafe in Santa Monica and (although I'm only casually on there) I'm happy to say we are also still FB friends... In all that time I had NO idea what you were going through and I so upset I've been so out of it that I did not at least know of your battle with HIV, (I feel awful)... but I'm SO VERY HAPPY to know that you've fought your way back to health 10x better that you were before... thank you so very much for sharing your story with us (it moved me very much) you're an inspiration in so many way... I look forward to see more of your Vlogs... Huge 🤗 Hug... your Friend ~ Xavier

I'm hoping I pull through. My cd4 is at 115 and viral load is high. I'm starting treatment so I hope my immune system improves and cd4 rises way up and viral load drops. I had been diagnosed for 10 years but meds scared me. I feel well and healthy and haven't been sick. But I now been told I got full blown aids because of the numbers. I hope and pray my body responds with the meds and improve for the best. Technology and the medicine has come a long ways but looks like I'll find out just how good it is very soon. Your story gives me hope. Your count was under 200 with a high viral load and you pulled through. Also u wasn't sick with anything else and took care to not get ill with something. I been doing same. I am hoping there is a high chance my body immune system pulls through as well. This was just what I needed to hear, thank you for sharing man. Huge UPDATE: 3 months later (June) My hiv is now Undetectable The t cells has already jump forward 115 to 216. Doctor already has said once the cells ho past 300 which in a few months it might be well past that number. I could consider to stop use of medication. The undetectable results the Doc said it was completely wiped out that they could not find any trace of the virus in my system. Thank God and i hope this helps many other people who is in a similar situation where as I didn't do any treatment for around several years. And now its all gone and immune wise im getting stronger! Just excellent! Survival of the fittest!

Hey! Do not stop your medications! Please consult another doctor if your current doctor said to stop. The moment you stop your medications, the virus reactivates and starts to multiply again increasing the viral load.

@@Mylife-yd9xq if your immune system is powerful, you may not feel any symptoms during a long time, it can take months and years for the virus to spread all your body; so it depends individually. Before i learnt i had the virus i had become zona all my body, then i realized i became it due to the HIV as it effected my immune system. One day when i donated blood, i was informed that i was infected by HIV and directed to hospital for a start for treatment. It has been 5 years now and i am healthy thanks to the treatment i have been taking. Treatment is so simple, you take only one medicine per day.

I was just diagnosed with hiv after a random drunk threesome I had. The nurses at the clinic weren’t any help at all, they just gave me some pamphlets and told me I could go, it seemed like they were looking down at me too kinda. The straight community isn’t as open and supportive with this as you guys are, yall are lucky to have a caring community cause I feel so alone rn

Raif you are awesome man, you bring hope to people that are diagnosed with hiv. Your videos have helped me stay strong and keep my head up. I tested positive 2 days ago from a test done at munson laboratories, but negative on 2 rapid tests I'm not sure what's going on with me but I will be seeing an infectious disease specialist next week. When I found out I panicked just like most people would who are uneducated about hiv. I'm heterosexual so the stigma behind only homosexual men getting is entirely false. After doing some extensive research following the discovery of my diagnosis, I started to feel like a person again. Like you said in one of your videos the medication is highly advanced today. Scientists and researchers are constantly learning more about this virus and hope to one day stop this epidemic. Where I stand today is not so much of a concern about health because I'm a very healthy person and hopefully have caught this in time before AIDS. My main concern is about my future relationships with women. The horrible stigma associated with HIV would almost certainly stop a person dead in there tracks. I fear I will never know what love is now. I'm gonna take things day by day and focus on my career. Im still very scared to tell anybody because of how they will view me from there on. Thank you for your videos, you are extremely motivational.

Justin, my man, thank you so much for sharing something so personal and profoundly impactful in your life. Thank you for speaking up and confirming that HIV is in fact NOT a gay disease. It effects anyone and everyone. It does not discriminate the way humans do. Secondly, I commend you for doing what you need to do, handling it, and being so committed to yourself and improving your outlook on yourself and your life. You have every right to do so. There is so much hope for you and life is still very much what you make of it. As far as the stigma and dealing with a potential partner...any woman worth your time, and after being educated on the current state of the virus (especially the lack of transmission for those who are 'undetectable') should be able to look past it and continue a relationship with you...if she can't...well, she just did you a favor and saved you time and investment from someone who isn't worth what you have to offer anyway. It can be tricky learning how and when to broach the subject but I have faith and confidence that you will figure that out as well. You're a strong and courageous individual and I know you're going to be just fine. Much respect brother 🙏

I thought an AIDS diagnosis was a t-cell count below 250 accompanied by two infections? Also, I've read that once you're diagnosed with AIDS, you will always be considered as having AIDS even after your t-cell goes back up and you're undetectable. Then I heard that only certain states apply that rule.
@RaifDerrazi
@RaifDerrazi 6 жыл бұрын
My doc told me that it was just a matter of T-Cell count going below 250...yes, I've heard that once you are AIDS diagnosed...you will always be considered 'AIDS diagnosed'...but that doesn't mean that you have AIDS currently lol....I certainly don't have AIDS even tho i am still considered 'AIDS diagnosed' ...super confusing...and trivial if u ask me.

Raif Derrazi you don't even look like you have AIDS, I'm not sure if you believe in God, but live with your faith. I know the comparison I'm about to say it's not comparable, but I've got my mom with stage 4 cancer, and the first thing you think is death. But I won't lie it's a hard thing to face, but I told my mom to fight for her life, and life has changed for her 😶 but I guess what I'm trying to say, you fight that diagnosis and you could give hope to so many people with AIDS, and encouragement on staying healthy and doing things to make you happy, you look great. I'm not sure what will happen with my mom but I'm hoping for the best 🙏 God loves you, AIDS doesn't define you please don't cry, be strong and my mom is taking immunocal for immune system to make it stronger, please look into it I promise you it will help you, don't forget about researching immunocal ok. Blessings 🙌 you've got this, eat healthy as well 👍

Anthony and dated just barely two weeks, broke up, and went our separate ways. A little over 12 months later, I saw him in a chat room, and decided to to say, hello. The first thing he told me, was that, "I have AIDS, and, your lose ass probably gave it to me" Needless to say, I was absolutely shocked, no, not by his insolence, but, the news shocking news, he dropped on me. Luckily, I had just gotten a battery of tests, including blood work, aids test, for a life insurance policy, a few weeks earlier. I jumped in my car, drove over to Oakland to his apartment, my test result in hand. (non reacting) I brought some green tea, sugar substitute and a few other goodies for him. This was more than 7 years ago. We haven't talked or seen each other since then.Sometimes I wonder how he's doing.
