Is the Bulldog series of amps basically an updated version of the old MAXWATT series? I own a MAXWATT B300 HD, what are the differences because besides the new name the BULLDOG 440 and my B300 HD look identical.

I have a Crunch 350, and it says Maxwatt on the back. I'm pretty sure they're the same basic amps with a few upgrades. Can't speak to the whole line, but the 350 has a toroidal transformer. It's a nice amp for the price point. I wish Hiwatt would dedicate a video to the Bulldog 220 or 440 and just play with the controls. I'd like to order one, but I just won't without knowing what it's capable of.

@@balderdashsir Yeah same for me. I love my B300 HD (Best bass amp I've ever played or heard) and while a newer model is interesting until I see IN DEPTH demos of it I'm not even considering it. I want to see it through the HB115HN SPEAKER CAB W/ 1X15” and the HB410HN SPEAKER CAB W/ 4X10” using various mics, and the RAW Line and balanced outs. then it used in a full mix in multiple genres.(using all the above) THEN if it stacks up to my B300 HD I might think about buying one.

@@The_Audio_Phoenix I'm mostly a guitarist; and I can say that the Crunch 350 is a really interesting amp. It's decidedly solid state, so it can get a little shrill through vintage 30's, but there are independent volume controls for each channel that are fed into a master. If you crank the one on the gain channel it kind of does a pseudo tube sag thing that's really interesting. I've always been a fan of solid state amps that don't try to emulate tube amps and the 350 feels like a good compromise that let's you pull a little of both out of it. I don't usually play with intense high gain (it does do that, however); my main rig is an overdrive into a Marshall Plexi and I can get the 350 close to that. Clean channel reminds me of the Plexi with the volume down: not fender cleans, more neutral, more of a mid hump / more "bark." It's clearly got British roots, and it's just as good of a pedal platform as an old Marshall. You just can't expect to have your pedal platform tweaked for a fender to just transfer over and sound the same. Maybe I'll do some video on it, because it also has next to no representation online. Since I'm not really a bass player, I tend to go for a picked kind of driven Lemmy sound any time I grab a bass. Does your B300 pull that kind of thing off well with the gain cranked and the limiter off? I've heard the B300 doing clean finger picking tones and pop/slap stuff, but I'm just hoping that the 440 follows the same British inspired ideology and can get nasty like a Marshall Super Bass, Orange AD200, Ashdown CTM 100. I'm looking for something that when driven, is decidedly not trying to be an SVT. If the 440 is simply a beefed up B300, it might be worth the impulse buy, and at this point I'll take any input I can get on the Maxwatt line. Anyway, thanks in advance for any feedback you might have on it.
