All of our Heritage line of amps are built to the exact standards as they were in the late 60's and 70's and still give that classic clean, hi-fi-esque sound. This demo is just showcasing our Filter Fuzz MK II - no clean tone to be found on this video!
@silviopimentel72472 ай бұрын
Love hiwat but that is a painful ice pick tone!! Emergency bound ear perching!! Teeth removal. Treble on 10, with mids & bass cut off ? Plus that choice of axe 🤔 I don't remember causing the audience that much pain when I owned my custom 103 70's head & cab with fanes. Why so much inflicted pain on the audience 😮
@dorianford62272 ай бұрын
I had the “ice pick” issue. It’s the 1 meg pot and also the strings being too close to the pickups or the action being too low. I lowered my pickups further in to the body of the guitar and it sounds much better and now I can play full volume and tone on a Jazzmaster and not kill peoples ears.
@kamek72462 ай бұрын
Lmfao dude do you know what shoegaze is? 90% of the genre uses jazzmasters, the rest either use teles or a short scale, noise is a part of the sound and if you aren't wearing ear protection at a shoegaze gig I have no hope for you lol
@dorianford62272 ай бұрын
@@kamek7246 most of the shoegazers pickups were actually lower in to the body because the foam in the pickups deteriorated over time since most of the musicians were using second hand 60s JM’s So the guitars were not Fender PU height . So most Millenial Gen Z musicians with reissue Jazzmasters do not know about this so when they play in to clean amplifiers full volume and tone it is too much treble and yes it cuts but comes off harsh. Hence why guys like the guy above makes ice pick comments I have experimented with this and the ice pick problem went away and I still cut like butter in a band mix and the gliding technique sounds much cooler now.

Keep the videos coming! I've got a strong feeling that all the hard work put into reviving and relaunching the HIWATT brand is going to ramp up in popularity among players. It just feels like it's the right thing at the right time. I couldn't be more excited about the PARK and WEM stuff that's on the way too! You guys really are putting together a powerhouse of beloved old gear brands.

Super Leeds 150 owner here (just posted a demo also). from Arv Hiwatt's reply on the Gear Page: There'll be a proper press release coming soon, but essentially we took all the good bits of the old Crunch Series and made a few adjustments; improved clean section to take pedals even better, actually removed a little gain from the overdrive section which helped keep clarity on both gain channels, improved fx loop, installed an fx loop in the 50 which for some reason didn't have one(!?) and upgraded a few components to increase stability.

looks like their HG212 cab with Octapulse 12"s
@underground_man2 ай бұрын
@@alilhouston About a week ago I went ahead and ordered the Leeds 150 head along with one of their SE212F cabs since Hiwatt's custom shop in Toronto didn't have any HG212s. I received the head already and I love this thing! The clean channel actually *will* break up but you have to run the amp hard - I have used an attenuator to do that - a Rivera Rockcrusher - but this attenuator can only take 120 watts RMS, so I don't run the amp master past 12 o'clock. The second channel is like a JCM800 but ballsier, and it can do pretty convincing "classic" gain if you roll the gain on the amp down a bit and roll your guitar's volume down appropriately. By the way, did I mention this amp is LOUD?? I have been running it at moderate volume into the octapulse speaker in my old Hiwatt T20 combo and it absolutely rips. My cab is supposed to arrive today and I am SO excited! AHGHHHHHH
@persephonelipuma96913 ай бұрын
anyone looking for more info on this amp: the clean channel is incredible. like better than any amp ive owned under 1k. The octapulse speakers are actually pretty great. I'm considering swapping for a Fane, but its not imperative for me. the overdrive channel isnt my favorite, but im not one to use an overdrive channel tbh. I like pedals to do that. I've been able to get gilmourish tone and townshend too. it's a great amp. not handwired but still fantastic!

What is the difference between the Leeds range and the Crunch range besides the name and wattage?

from Arv Hiwatt's reply on the Gear Page: "There'll be a proper press release coming soon, but essentially we took all the good bits of the old Crunch Series and made a few adjustments; improved clean section to take pedals even better, actually removed a little gain from the overdrive section which helped keep clarity on both gain channels, improved fx loop, installed an fx loop in the 50 which for some reason didn't have one(!?) and upgraded a few components to increase stability." I just got the 50r. It's great.
@vondragonnoggin2 ай бұрын
@@alilhouston - so did your Leeds 50 have the fx loop like ARV mentioned? I’m seeing these listed with pictures and specs showing no fx loop. I’ve had my 150r about 5 weeks and it’s awesome amp. I wanted to pick up the 50 watt head too, but no fx loop is a no go for me. I’ve A/B’ed my twin tube JCM800 preamp with the HiWatt Vintage Super Leeds 150r channel and I can match sounds. I have several 80’s era Marshall SS amps too - 3210 Lead 100 Mosfet, Lead 12 Mini stack, 3310 Lead 100 Mosfet, and the HiWatt can get all those Marshall sounds easy plus a lot more. Really great amps, but I run some external preamps as extra channels so I need the fx loop.
@alilhouston2 ай бұрын
@@vondragonnoggin SO awesome to hear your experience with it and the Marshall along the way:) I had a 3210 years back and wanted to rebuy but this is more my style and then some. Mine does not have the FX loop. From what I read, they seemed to have had these boxed up and ready for release before they caught on that they should have FX loops. so they started integrating them. Hiwatt also did say they'd be willing to add an FX loop to Crunch/Leeds models without them. Currently I'm awaiting a response from them; customer service seems to be lagging but nonetheless great amp.

I used to have a Hiwatt 50W head that I bought at a consignment store in Sacramento probably around 1983 or 84. It had a mod for an extra master volume knob on the back that allowed you to crank the preamp for more gain. I wonder if it came from Leo’s music? I wound up buying a Mesa Boogie MK III head because I wanted channel switching and sold the Hiwatt head. That is my one gear regret I have. I should never have sold that Hiwatt. It was a killer amp.

Loved the playing at 3 minutes.... which is clearly a rip off of part of a Classical piece (Vaughan-Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis), which was itself based on a late medieval piece.

Hello Hiwatt! I own a new Crunch 150 head and it sounds absolutely beautiful! The only issue is that there is almost no volume when I engage the delay pedal (have tried 3 delay pedals so far) in the effects loop. When I run a patch cable from Send directly into Return, there is no issue with the volume. Any solutions? Thanks!!
@Chiaseedorangeboba6 ай бұрын
Ok issue resolved. It looks like the connections are reversed. The Return goes to the pedals Input and pedal Output goes to Send. My head is spinning now but it works 😂
