Hiwatt Hi 5 - Clean Demo

I have the combo version of this amp and it's amazing, yet it has some room for improvement: -the combo version is really loud at low settings -the clean channel is way brighter than the dirty channel, so you have to make adjustments whenever you switch them at either the amp or the tone knob of the guitar. The pros: - Amazing responsiveness, specially in the dirty channel, there are amazing things you can do by only using the guitar's pots. It can go from distorted to clean and still have a full crisp sound. - Many possible eq settings that sound good I would say that in order to make the most out of this amp you actually have to use a lot the controls of the guitar. It's eq section seems to work at a frequency that seems to be very complimentary to the one on the guitar's tone pot. I feel that this video falls into this problem, if you roll the tone knob down to 7-8 you get amazing creamy tones.

Hey there. Is it possible to use the Hi-5 combo version in bedroom levels? Or is it too loud as you stated? I’m thinking of getting the combo but I only play at home in an apartment. I don’t want the neighbors to call the cops on me. Lol

@@Stefano_Rodriguez Hi Fets. The answer is... complicated. I use it mostly at bedroom levels, keeping the settings low. This doesn't mean it sounds bad or you miss "pushing the tubes". You could say so about the clean channel. I personally don't like this amp's clean channel, but the dirty channel sounds amazing and can act as a pretty decent clean channel at low gain levels and also whenever you play with your guitar's volume and tone knobs. It's usually going to be at either low volume or low gain settings, but that doesn't keep it from sounding amazing. This amp is incredibly sensitive and that still works at bedroom levels.

I know it’s been a year since your last comment but I’d like to ask how well it does classic pink floyd? (Shine on you crazy diamond/ live at Pompeii) What guitar were you playing with it as I will probably be using a Stratocaster. Any response is appreciated

How does this amp get all that gain from one 12ax7 that I heard in other videos? Does it have a solid state distortion circuit in it? Is the clean a pure tube path?

I think it's 3 12ax7 and 2 el87 tubes in there.
