Today was Indigenous Peoples Day here in Canada. Where I live on Vancouver Island BC ...I went with my Indigenous 8 y/o twin grandsons as we do every year to join in ceremony in the Big House and walk and drum together to Spirit Square. I wore a Hirbawi kufiya and my traditional woven Cedar hat...I prayed to Free Palestine as we drummed....a young Lebanese Canadian thanked me for wearing the kufiya and said it's all she can think of and I said me too...we hugged and cried together. Sending prayers and tears in solidarity . Thank you each one on the panel for your hearts and determination.

So you support Arab colonizers over the indigenous Israelite people? Very sad as an indigenous person. Hebrew is a Canaanite language, and the Israelites/Jews were a Canaanite people. Arabic is a colonizers language, from the Arabs that came with Islam the colonizers religion after the 700s. You don't own a Bible??

@@braincase3903 The Palestinians are NOT an ethnicity, nor a Nationality. They are mostly Arab Levantine laborers that came into the land in the 1900s as support personnel for the British, Egyptians, Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis and Jordanians are not Palestinians! There are also Muslim refugees invited into the land by the Ottomans from Europe and Africa. Bosniaks, Chechins, Circassians, Turkemans, and Sudanese are Not Palestinians!!! About 30% of those calling themselves as Palestinians are descendants of ancient Jews, they are the only ones from that land. There were less than 350,000 people in the Entire land for over 1000 years before 1860.

@@braincase3903 Arabic was the language of the colonizers, just as Islam is. Neither is indigenous to their land! Educate yourself!

Absolutely gut-wrenching. The extent of human evil and cruelty never ceases to dismay us. So many world leaders are complicit in this barbarism. May Hossam one day be able to go home, rebuild his and his family's life and live in peace.

Hossam, may you and all the people in forced exile go back to their homes and families. You're a force of nature and your work is amazing, I hope to learn more about you next time on Jadaliya and maybe actually meet you in Cairo. Thank you Maya and Bassam. I wasn't lucky to catch this live to tell you both you're doing an amazing job educating the world, documenting personal and collective experiences and bridging the gaps between academia and real life situations that needs the public to take action. ألف شكر ليكم ونشوفكم على خير

A huge thank you to Jadaliyya for hosting this important dialogue and testimony of your guest, Hossam Madhoun. I wanted to reach across the screen and give Hossam Madhoun a hug. Tears. No words. Not all US citizens have lost our humanity and I believe that it is so important to see and hear from Hossam Madhoun and others. As painful as their personal stories are, they engender empathy and reinforce the fact that the Palestinian people are like us - not "others" and not "our enemy" - yearning for peace, dignity, and freedom. Hossam Madhoun asks why the Z-ists and allies are doing this and letting this horror continue, but with this question he is looking for a rational answer; however, I believe that the actions being taken against the Palestinians are NOT rational. Israeli Jews and many in the diaspora have been taught to fear Palestinians. The Israelis are separated from Palestinians. They do not interact with them as people and do not see them as individuals but believe all Palestinians are a group which is set to annihilate The Jews and therefore they must eliminate the threat by exiling/killing the group first, before being killed, as a preventative measure for their own security. This *irrational fear* has been handed down from generation to generation and the systematic separation of the two groups is now so extreme that this manufactured dehumanization is the only explanation I have for seeing young Jewish Israelis committing inhumane acts against the Palestinians. - my opinion only. I am so deeply ashamed and troubled by my (US) gov't, those who commit hateful acts in the name of my religion, and those who misuse the lessons of the Holocaust from which my family fled. Never Again. Not In My Name.
