HJC have always been the choice for reasonable price point, and fits intermediate head shapes.

After seeing this review - I ordered it. I will be wearing it everyday...to my office...and at home too...it will be like, my second head...when my wife complains, i'd tell her to blaming it all on Big Rock Moto...you got me started on adventure riding.

Hey BRO, thanks for the review - just wanted to point out that blocking the sun is only an added benefit of the visor. It's there so when you're trail riding with a group and someone is throwing roost you can look down a bit and save your face/visor from getting pelted with dirt & rocks, etc.

Yep it just seems the visors on DS helmets are a bit small compared to real dirt helmets

It might be that they’re shorter because of higher road speeds. But that’s just a guess.

Don't loose a visor screw if live in Canada. They are impossible to get. Can get them from the US, but shipping costs to Canada are ridiculous.

Riding on hwy, I thought I am hit by a bug. The visor bolt had loosened and fell out. a short while later the washer hit my leg. Didn't know what it was until I could stop safely. The visor bolt kits are backordered in USA. Found 6mm bolts at a hardware store to work for now. Disappointing as losing a visor and shield on a trip would be miserable.

I just found that out. Lost the RH side yesterday at over 100 km/hr. When I turned my head the wind caught the peak and snapped it off of the top bolt. I managed to grab my mirrored visor before it went too. No one in Canada had the screws and to get some up from the states is going to cost between 35-40 bucks by the time I get them up here. Plus the cost of ordering a new peak which I cannot get in the correct scheme so I would have to get a matt black one. At this point I figure I may as well order a new helmet and save my old one for spare parts.

I myself have so many helmets, (problem being I only have 2 communicator mounts for making only 2 helmets easy to use) and was going to upgrade my Scorpion AT950 (until i saw your review on the 960) I mostly use my Scorpion and Shoei, but may get this one instead of using my Shoei? I do like the fit of this DS-X1, (and my HJC) Oh no, I see it has no drop down shield and deal breaker for me as I like those

As a new adventure bike owner...I'm enjoying your content and just bought a DS-X1 so your review helped me pull the trigger. I too will lengthen the slot on the visor. I don't know if you've looked for pinlock inserts for this helmet but I'm not finding anything other than clear and even very few of those. Have you tried locating any of these? I live in New Mexico so I don't think fogging is going to be much of a problem....not like Florida. What's your experience been with fogging/not-fogging? Keep up the informative vids. Agree that the face shield lock is a bit stiff but I am able to one-hand it....

I use anti fog I also had issues finding pinlocks

I was hoping to find a tinted pinlock for the clear shield but went ahead and bought a dark-smoke shield. Around here sun is a bigger problem than rain and fog. I have seen clear pinlocks available and that will work with either shield. Tks.@@BigRockMoto
