The “B” in VP9L B means that version of the pistol is equipped with the American style push-button mag release...kinda like the PPQ’s M2 version. The other versions have the Euro style paddles at the bottom of the trigger guard that release the magazine.

Tried both as well, swapped several times and like HK more. I was more precise with HK and prefer the trigger - it's not that soft, but see it more precise, or predictable and it was really easy to adopt. Love the ergonomy of HK, but Q5 is fine too.

One thing the VP9 trigger doesn't get enough credit for is how damn crisp it is. Even the walther has a decent amount of creep.

Yes you can now get the Q5 Match in the M1 (paddle mag release) too. And Walthers paddle release is so much longer and easier to access.

I agree, that's the only thing I like better on the Walther. Gotta love the barrel Oring lock up on the vp9L's. You can swich the HK's release out for the longer version. I'll be searching for an M1 match now that they're out, hate buttons.

I think we all really want the mystique, the high quality H & K. But Walther does predate H&K with heritage, a sterling war record, and today just the most comfortable ergonomics. All well more affordable. My first 9mm was a H&K VP70Z. No one made a polymer 18 round pistol in the 70's. I sold mine 40 years ago, and recently found a near mint in box replacement to feel complete again. But I also adore my metal CZ's, and my collection of Walthers. It's hard to choose between the CZ's or the Walthers when I go shooting. My latest love? 2022 Walther PDP full size 5" barrel. Own at least one H & K. it's the Mercedes- Benz you keep waxed in the garage forever. 🇩🇪 🇺🇲 💥🎯✌️🍺☕🏆

I own a Q5 SF and the main thing I don't like about it is the grip. I feel like the HK, or even the regular Q5 Match would be more comfortable in my hand.

Things have changed in three years. The HK VP9 Match now includes 4- 20rd magazines, O-ring barrel, optic cut slide. Wonder if there is a PDP 5" + match coming soon ?

Well, don't forget the PDP pro, the different options and configs in that range, and its price. Threaded barrel allows a comp, magwell, 18-21 magazines, DPT amazing flat trigger.

I own the Q5 Match with a red dot installed. It is the best shooting, most accurate gun that I have ever owned. I have threatened to buy a VP9 several times, and every time that I do, a video like yours comes out and causes me to change my mind. I have shot several friends VP9's but never have been as accurate as with the Q5. Not saying that one is better than the other, but the Q5 obviously fits my hand and eye better. Oh, and the trigger is the best, out of the box, trigger ever. Even better than the Sig Legion. Wow, can't believe I just said that!

Thanks. Yeah, I debated putting that camera there but placed it directly behind the center shield, and it was a GoPro which is small enough to be fully covered. Happy with the result - I like to get some different perspectives once in a while!

I've never played with a q5 match. I jumped straight to the SF Pro. I have the VP9 and wasn't impressed. Okay, looked at my gunbroker buying page. I bought a tactical VP9 and the Match version which might be the VP9-L. One thing I'll give ol' H&K, they don't mess about with the extended mags, they're comically long.

The B on the long slide HK is for button mag release. I know it's just a slide conversion but that is the designation on the new SFP9L (VP9L) complete models (separate SKU)

I think a top 5-6 way striker comparison would be cool. Q5, VP9-L, G34, CZ P10F, Sig P320X and M&P9L CORE or Pro. Maybe the XD9 long slide also.

I think but am not 100% sure that the B in the HK stands for the mag release. One model has European paddle release and the other has standard button release. I think the button model is the B model? B= button?

welp in EU you can get SFP9L (same as VP9L) as standalone gun. no need to get shorter barrel one and then silde kit. that makes HK offering around 350 USD cheaper here. Walther pirce is about 1100 USD and HK around 700USD (after rough coversion to USD) so i got myslef SFP9L and quite like it :)

@@paulparadis66 I was thinking about it in a sense that I dont shoot 9 and they dont make the vp40 in longslide. Why would you want to shoot the 9 long slide on a 40 frame if youre only putting 9mm through it?

unlitdarkness6 the main reason would be to shoot 9 with your vp40 without having to buy a new pistol. If they made a vp40l I would be all over that. I reload and shoot 40 90% of the time but it’s good to have options.

All in all if I had to choose between the two. I would go with the Walter. However, my preference is for a completely different one the P320 Legion as I love the way it feels and for the price is the better option at only $50.00 dollars more than the Walther.

I just bought a Match and I can tell you the VP9 it's le creme of the polymer pistols. But also it's more expensive.

@@dethtour I wish I had a match. I have the regular VP9 OR, but the thing is a laser anyway. What's the match trigger like? I'm not sure if all the VP9s hav e identical triggers or if the match is better.

@@asdfghjk2933 it's crazy good. The reset on the trigger is so soft you can do a mag dump from the reset and land all shots at 30yards. The o rings also keep your barrel centers sooner so you can shoot more accurately. It's my baby lol

@@dethtour That's awesome man. I've done my own trigger work to my vp9 to where it has basically no creep and a super short reset/overtravel. 3.75lbs. VP9s are so incredibly underrated tbh. I wouldn't trade it for any other striker out there. I use mine for HD and it's my baby as well haha. With a red dot it's super accurate too. Almost feels like cheating when I'm at the range. Ragged hole out to 15 yards. I can only imagine what the match is like.

@@asdfghjk2933 fun fact. The VP was named from the Nazis is VP means the people's pistol. Kinda like Volkswagen. HK made the very first polymer pistol and owns the patent to polymer lowers. Glock pays a royalty to HK and every other company for the use of their patent. So HK is the grandpa of the modern pistol

I couldn’t stand the HK VP9L sights..couldn’t get them like I wanted them and changed them out to the Trijicon HD and I have to say it’s a nice shooter, I haven’t had my standard VP9 slide one since. Looking at your target you shot the VP9L the best on the target at the end. So that’s interesting that you say you don’t shoot it better. I would definitely get the Walther in the steel frame if I was to get one and that would bring up the cost for the Walther.

What do you think is wrong about the sights? Personally I find them to be the same as every fibre optic target sight. I think the PPQ Q5 even uses an identical set from the same manufacturer.

I was thinking the same thing. His accuracy target says he shot the VP9L better. He even pointed out that one shot wasn't quite on purpose and also the wind was pushing him around on one. Those were the 2 of 3 that were off of or on the edge of the orange. The rest were damn near stacked. He's Q5 was definitely more opened up than the VP9. Not saying he was totally biased, but he seemed to be just a touch biased. In his defense, he did kinda admit it. I don't own a Q5, but do a M1 PPQ9 and VP9LE and really can't tell a difference. Hell, if I close my eyes and have someone put them in my hands I can't tell a difference as long as I don't hit the mag releases. Both are paddle but feel a little different. Both are FANTASTIC pistols though. I have a longslide upper on the way. Tracking says Jan 2. I can't wait play with it!

@@jdtisme9100 I personally use the VP9L for production and PPQ Q5 for CO. VP9's barrel O ring definitely makes it mechanically more accurate, but in the context of USPSA/IPSC, mechanical accuracy is almost meaningless for a handgun. Ergonomically the VP9 is clearly superior. Other than that, both of them are alright.

I own the Walther Q5 Match. Gotta say my XDM 9, and my Beretta M9 have better quality and are more accurate, with open sights. But, i got the PPQ 5 so i could install a red dot, and i did. It improved the accuracy. I believe if i get my vision repaired, i will be able to shoot as well with open sights up to 20 yards.

The VP9B has a B to represent "button" as in how the magazine is released. If you got just a VP9 it would have the European style trigger guard mag release.

Yep, I understand that - but when sold as only a slide... there is no button, or lever, or crank, or turnstyle. Seems like they had a big overrun of production and decided to sell them as upper-kits.
