It's a bittersweet moment, so great work Navy for the first rate ceremony. I remember when the ANZAC was commissioned, so it's a surreal feeling watching her decommissioning. Thanks to all of the crew who served on her throughout her service.

Looks like Stirling. I was there in late 75 during construction and early 09 for a JR reunion, It’s a still a sterile place in the middle of nowhere. For eastern state men it’s a bit far away. Also in 09 we were told a few ships were in mothball..

Hope she is kept in ready reserve. The proposed replacement seems to be a LONG time away. Please keep the pollies out of these videos - in all seriousness, who really wants to hear from the 'Member for Brand?'

@@URACELL.hard uncomfortable questions to be asked. Why can China pump out 3 ships in 1 year whilst Australia can’t even pass feasibility studies and force reviews in a similar timeframe

I hope she's kept in ready reserve, or as a training ship, until the day a Hunter class ship has launched and is ready to fill the void on the line

What an amazing Government we currently have. Literally blowing up energy infrastructure that provides energy security, and decommissioning Defence assets (prior to replacements being online), thus destroying our National Security. To those who served on this vessel, thank you 🇦🇺.

Are you sure. With the way our politicians stuff up, the loss of manufacturing in this country and the navy trying to make something more out of a ship (hunter) then it is. It could be possible we don't see any more navy ships built because projects keep getting cancelled like the attack class, like the hunter and like the arafura class. Why the previous government didn't just build more hobarts while we were building them instead of a new design that is taking forever to get going is beyond my understanding.

They'll be replaced with 6 hunter class frigates and ~12 as of yet undecided smaller frigates towards the end of the 2020s and start of the 2030s. At the moment the total number of RAN vessels will shrink before expanding again.

@julesdebeckker627 don't think we have that sort of time up our sleeve. I would suspect as with most contracts it will blow out costing and time.

What a joke. M113AS4 are in service longer than this ship 😂 and now the navy has a capability gap. Really smart!!!
@URACELL.
@URACELL. 3 ай бұрын
By then way m113 aren’t that good any more apart from auxiliary and support roles the bush master, Hawkei and 8x8 boxer would be more capable on the field if you have kept up to date with the recent happenings and Ukrainian Syria and Israel. Most navy’s decommission ships after 30 years but it is silly of the RAN to decommission a ship and have no sort of replace meant

Why is this ship being retired after just 28 years in service? As long as it is maintained, it can easily serve for another decade. More importantly, what will fill the gap? I bet you ... nothing soon.

With only 8 vls cells. Defence deficiencies killed the Anzac class unfortunately

@@ajraussie It just seems to be a pattern when it comes to Defence procurement unfortunately. With the "loud" subs, the grounding of the helo fleet, the reduction of Airforce aircraft numbers, the looming capability gap in the navy until the new subs arrive in 10-15 year's time..and the list goes on.

its wear and tear actually, not defiviencies in its ability to defend itself (its has a remarkable radar set and has plenty of missiles(32 in vls and 8 ASM"s, the standard for a ship of its size)), the ship had to travel a lot around the globe and that takes a toll on a ship. hopefully though the general purpose frigate programme goes into high gear now.
