Picture fit Can you focus more in advising opinions than debating please? Often you do this. I don't know what HMB and Placebo is and who takes them? I'm weekly excited for a video from you talking about something exciting that is often asked. E.g. - Should you lose fat or muscle first? I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just upset that you rarely make videos of things we are excited about or are frequently asked ourselves. E.g. Why should you stop/take sugar free drinks. How will they help/not help? With losing fat. - How the body reacts to 6-8 foods a day, and calories retriction? Do I make sense? It's more of a video that shows to us that we can guarantee to ourselves that if we do that then it will work. An example. You said previously lose fat is better than build muscle when your fat because it will keep you motivated in the long run. Completely agree. You see, this focus more in the opinion that will motivate us. - How to meal plan for dummies? Any video that motivates helps... Sorry to bother. I'm your fan who just want to see more exciting questions I ask myself every day? E.g. Sugar free ruins your metabolism but is it better taking it rather than with sugar? When losing fat? There also loads of others. Thanks for reading! S2 LOVE YOUR CHANNEL MAN! Keep it up!

Hmb isn’t meant to increase strength or size. It is meant to prevent the waisting of muscle. It helps prevent the breakdown of muscle due to overtraining or under eating. If you are struggling keeping muscle on maybe because of an illness or situation such as a high labor job paired with training. Hmb help prevent the body from atrophying. Just because it’s a muscle related supplement doesn’t mean it automatically increases size that’s not what it’s for. The studies you showed tested unrelated data.

Well, muscle size (which usually increases strength) results from muscle synthesis minus muscle breakdown. If HMB doesn't increase the muscle size, it either means, that it's not effective at preventing breakdown, or it impairs synthesis to the same degree. Both conclusions don't look good for HMB.

This youtuber is going off of the hype from the advertisers in the 1990's. Those were to ramp up sales. In reality it was successful in muscle lost from those over the age of 40's. People who had a disease that ate away at muscles. Those who had to rest or recover and not workout. And those who worked out in a fasted state by saving muscle. The guy talks about HMB as if everyone works out in the most optimal state. He has probably never picked up weights before.

So? If we compare two groups. If one take hmp to retain muscle and the other is not. That means that the other group will loose some muscle. So we should see a significant difference between the two groups, but we don't see that in the studies. And I don't think all the studies was in the bulking season.

I’ve been taking HMB pre workout for 5 months combined with Creatine and Whey, I suppose the effect can be different from person to person but I’ve noticed a huge difference in strength, recovery and muscle mass! The main benefit is recovery as I’m able to train 5 nights in a row and rest at weekends. From my experience I would definitely recommend it if your serious and consistent with your training and nutrition, I’m afraid these studies are not necessarily accurate as my own personal experience is the opposite to the general consensus 😊

every time i go through whatever study trying to get my info about whatever supplement, there are only few important things i want to get answered: 1. what are the promised benefits 2. what is the exact supposed metabolic pathway of work 3. how big of a dose relative to the body weight is needed for maximum effect 4. how long does the effect last after ingesting.. most studies out there are garbage because they both under-dose the substance and mistime the ingestion completely not even telling you when they are ingesting throughout the day (how far from the meals and workouts).. leucine/hmb is a stimulant 1. promising increased anabolism 2. through direct stimulation of mtor 3. with peak effectivity at 3g per dose and 4. duration of a full effect only about 2-3h so when you understand that purpose of anabolism is to take ingested protein and carbs and create muscle mass from it through muscle protein synthesis and combine it with the knowledge of a short term effect of hmb/leucine for boosting the muscle protein synthesis, you logically come to a conclusion that you have to take 3g of hmb with every bigger meal to make that meal more anabolic instead of taking it in the morning on an empty stomach expecting it to do something on its own.. you build muscle from food, not from amino acids.. they are just stimulants to make every meal you eat them with more anabolic if you now take this framework of thinking about and analysis of all supplements, you will realize that 90% studies out there are just an amateurish work of people who had to do something to earn that final diploma in college.. nothing more

So, the earliest study that you used as a resource, from '99 concluded that HMB is crap. The latest one from '15 concluded that it seems to be ok, but further studies must be conducted. Now, the latest scientific OK study that I found from '17 concluded that HMB is actually good and provides results. Maybe those studies were outdated? Who knows. If anyone wants to check out what I've said, feel free to reach me out or just do some further research. Peace!

People who take BCAAs or HMB subscribe to this idea that by not being in the gym, the muscle will start to degrade and all them gainz will disappear. Please realize that the human body is a very durable thing. It's very hard to degrade the muscles unless you starved yourself for weeks or went on a long distance cross-country marathon run for days. Other than that, your body will be fine as long as you're consistent with your training and you consume a balance diet every day. Even doing cardio on the treadmill for 20-40 minutes won't degrade the muscles. That being said, I was also once a believer in BCAAs and HMB. I used to go to the gym almost every day and consumed BCAAs after my workout and throughout the day, and take HMB before my workout and also at night. Then I had to go for this business trip which lasted for 2 weeks. Once I came back home, I skipped the gym for another 2 weeks because I was lacking motivation. So that's one month of no gym, no supplements, nothing at all. My body didn't change in any significant way. It was less flexible and I started to see a flabby tummy forming. But other than that, my body was fine. When I finally got back to the gym, I could squat, bench press and deadlift the same amount of weights as I did before my business trip. That's when I realized, all these supps don't do shit. The only 2 things that actually helps are whey protein and creatine. So instead of buying all these ridiculous supps in the hope to be more fit, you should invest the money in gym membership and whole food. Also, invest your time in weight training, resting and (occasionally) cardio.

HMB will probably be better in older and more inflammed individuals. It can reduced the secondary oxidative damage caused to muscle that we experience from trigger happy immune cells when we get DOMS. Ideally it's better for people engaging in higher volume depletion workouts or those dieting more aggressively with lowered glycogen levels. High volume and higher reps with induce more muscle damage and longer lasting Ca+ acculmalated fatigue, so it will even help those who are over trained. Probably won't help those who train for strength under 8 reps as they don't tend to show markers of elevated counter regulatory hormones that are associated with higher rep(15+) and endurance training. BCAA are muscle fuel and the body uses HMB as a marker of Leucine catabolism. Usually only 2% of Leucine end up as HMB. If Leucine end up being burnt in significant amounts it usually because there is a shortage of other energy substrates to provide acetyl Coa. It maybe because HMB is more readily convertible to acetyl Coa and thus sparing Leucine from the kerb cycle furnace and free it for mTOR activation.

I'm around the same age as you and yeah taking creatine & HMB as well. HMB definitely decreases muscle soreness by a significant degree even during hard work out sessions. I also feel like I'm less likely to feel as tired as easily from intense bouts of exertion. These benefits alone are enough for me to stick with it, despite what other people say. Yeah, someone in their late teens or early twenties may not get much with it which i can't say for certain, but really feel through my own experience that I'd recommend it for nearly anyone that's a bit older.

Its been around forever but you speak of it like its some new mysterious compound we havent quite grasped yet and we need just s little more studies untill you can give us the final verdict. Personally ivenever seen any claims of it increasing strength but helping people retain lean muscle which has been shown in studies. Due to increased poor ability to take up nutrition with age it makes sense that hmb would be helpful for elders wishing to retain lean mass. It's certainly no wonder drug but it has an effect that scientists have deemed statistically significant which is why it is taken as a complement in some cases for treating Sarcopenia.

HMB IS NOT SUPPOSED TO INCREASE STRENGTH OR MUSCLE MASS...it is designed to prevent muscle loss. In my case, I barely sleep at all due to protracted benzodiazepine withdrawal so making and *holding onto* gains is virtually impossible. HMB has stopped the muscle loss I experienced before almost entirely and is allowing me to make progress with my physique in spite of the extremely low levels of sleep I get. I've tried consuming high amounts of protein in the past and that did nothing to stall the muscle loss I was experiencing due to sleep-loss related stress on my body. HMB is incredible for its intended purpose and very useful to those dealing with extenuating circumstances that prevent them from maintaining above average levels of muscle tissue.

This video is misleading HMB has been proven to: Preserve healthy muscle function at any age Promote muscle growth when combined with resistance training HMB in clinical studies HMB and Bed Rest: Prolonged bed rest can result in loss of muscle mass. In a randomized placebo-controlled study, men and women were confined to bed rest for 10 days, followed by eight weeks of resistance training rehabilitation. Each group took either 3 g a day of HMB or a placebo for 5 days prior to bed rest, up until the end of the study. The placebo group lost lean mass (that's muscle) during bed rest, but those given HMB during bed rest showed no such decline.15 HMB and Resistance Training: In a randomized placebo-control trial, men and women received 3 g a day of HMB, or a placebo and trained for 4 weeks. At the end of the study, the HMB group had a greater increase in upper body strength than the placebo group.11 In another clinical study, supplementation with 3 g a day of HMB for 9 weeks provided a substantial benefit to lower-body strength when combined with resistance training.12 HMB and Older Adults: In a 24-week, randomized, placebo-controlled study, adults 65 years and older were divided into an exercise group and a non-exercise group. Both groups took either 3 g of HMB twice a day or a placebo. The non-exercise group that took HMB showed signs of improved muscle health - but the exercise group's results were even better, improving measurements of muscle function and lean mass.16

No. It's not magic. You have to be lifting. HMB operates by helping to prevent muscle breakdown from lifting. It doesn't help make new muscle. It just helps you keep more of what you already have.

Tough to take the advice of someone you can't see. I learned long ago ppl will just read about a subject and rewrite their conclusions. That's How wrong info, or "fake news," gets to be believed. One person came to a conclusion, others rewrite it, and soon all you can find in this one conclusion rewritten hundreds of ways, and so it must be true.

Here are some of the topics, which I'm interested to hear about: -Tongkat ali effect on performance and testosterone level. -The difference between whey protein, vegan protein, meet protein in term of (PER) (BV) (NPU) (PDCAAS) -Synthol -Steroids and their cycles -Is their a way to minimize injuries, how? I have many other ideas :) Thank you for amazing videos!

Protein powders differ in a couple different ways but the main difference is their extraction process. Whey comes from cheese and milk, soy protein comes from soy, etc etc. Whey protein is probably the cheapest and contains a large amount of the amino acid cysteine, which is why it’s favored by people who lift weights. Soy protein contains high proportions of glutamic acid, so it’s favored by endurance athletes, rice protein has a high bioavailability, meaning the body absorbs better, casein is slower absorbing than the others, which prevents catabolism.

Synthol is synthetic oil that people inject into the muscles to fill them which makes them appear bigger. This rarely works to the users advantage, because it usually looks really obvious, and it can be terrible for you
@yuqfps3299

Tongkat ali acts a Luteinizing hormone booster. This will, after around 2/3 weeks of use, increase free testosterone in the blood. Because tongkat ali is not straight exogenous testosterone, you won’t see proportional strength and athletic performance gains, they might go up, but they won’t skyrocket, unless you were in a severe testosterone deficit before you took tongkat

Steroids are synthetic versions of anabolic and androgenic compounds in our bodies, they very from effectiveness and effect, but most of them result in increased lean muscle mass, increased strength and increased size overall, as well as an increased libido, increased energy, fluctuations in mood and more

So I agree with you that HMB doesn't do anything BUT that study is almost useless. Its sample size is small and its age group is ridiculously narrow. You can't look at a subject group that is producing enough muscle growth hormone, you have to look at groups that don't. The body is near its peak in that age group, you have to look 26-60. HMB doesn't have any negative impacts, so it can't hurt to take it. Creatine, which is simply protein, is a must if you're serious about quick muscle mass, but can also be skipped if you're just recreational or eat enough protein.
