Agree with you that you shouldn't buy a phone on promises. HMD don't always fulfill their promises. Nokia 9 PureView never got optimized or its last Android update.

Anything in and on Nokia 9 PureView never been optimized, them HMD made everything incredibly cheaply and shitty as hell from the get go. Europe brand seem legit right? Finnish board company eh? Guess what, all the rest is cheapo Chinese from the guts. Same shit as MG Cars, British brand by Shenzhen moto low quality copy cat bullshit.

The 9 PureView was an anomaly, mainly down to the fact the company (Light) that co-developed the camera and provided the custom imagine coprocessor and image processing pipeline algorithms, bailed consumer imaging and the 9 PureView. The intention was evidently to use the 9 PureView as a demonstration of their tech and sell it to other manufacturers (Sony and Xiaomi were both interested). They moved to sensors for autonomous vehicles before being acquired by John Deere. I own their Light L16 camera which has some of the issues of the 9 PureView such as high power draw.
