The cool thing is with the Scale trains operator all u need to do is add the extra decals and it’s close to the rivet counter version which is awesome!!

Brand new cars in '79,80, did not have, Yellow dot wheel insp.symbols. Everything before that did, till they got a new coat of paint. The variables were just incredible. I guess that's why I like it so much.

Might consider a Rivet Counter one, but not sure why they all have head shields. Around the Seattle area, the only tank cars I see with head shields are used for transporting diesel fuel from the BP Cherry Point refinery. None of the oil trains or LPG tanks have them.

Wow, great video. I noticed the detail differences on the top and bottom. I think each car is designed to handle either gas or liquid. The more the car carries, the lighter the materials.

@@RWTX Yes, but now that I think about it more. I really wonder how different the 30k & 31k gallon cars are different than the 33k gallon car? Yes, some markings maybe different but prolly not much more. what do you think?

You would be right. But they have different manufactures so I believe that would still be an informative video

Nice comparison video Dillon! The Scaletrains Rivet Counter tank cars are by far the best in terms of detail and price. That being said, the Walthers Mainline tank cars are great for their shear durability (mainly because they lack alot of the details found on the Scaletrains version) which is what I tend to lean towards because I don't have to constantly be worrying about break detail parts off, and if you shop around, you can get them for not alot of money.

If you're a period modeler, (1978-1980), like me you gotta do a little research. What was brand new in that period? What old dilapidated cars were still in use then. What I buy and don't buy, depends a lot on Capy markings, and Lube plates. I end up having to do a lot of it myself.

Yes. You have noticed an issue with this video that I have noticed. I failed to orient all of the cars in the same direction when getting that view of the end. They all have break wheels on the end but some I didn’t have turn the right way
