Super. My railroad still runs an original Atlas SD-24 high hood locomotive, painted in Burlington colors, that is over forty years old. Hello again from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.

hi john !!! great review !!! i just ordered this engine from yankee dabbler minus ditch lights for $218.85 total which includes shipping w/dcc & sound !!! it is also available on their website with ditch lights for only 10 bucks more !! i did not need the lights as it will run with an atlas conrail sd38, and 2 atlas n&w experimental paint schemes ( which they used sparingly in 1983) so this will be a nice consist thanks to your information in the video !!! i owe you a nice cold beer !!! i bought the cr for 30 bucks brand new never opened but was 4 years old, the n& w engines also were never used (via an estate sale... 25 bucks each !!!) and now "your" guilford sd 24 !!! what a consist !!! we are back in the 80's, baby!!! THANKS AND BLESSINGS TO YOU, JOHN !!!! ps i am subscribed !!!

At the 7:22 mark, that boxy structure is called a winterization hatch. It draws the warm air from the engine compartment and keeps the radiators warmer in the colder climates.

Hey John, looks great. The hatch on top is a weather hatch, for the winter time. Robert.👍

I bought this SD24 new in Southern Pacific colors last week. I had the same problem with the horn and took the viewer recommendation on changing it which was great. Thanks! However, activating my BELL also produces a double ring at the start. Atlas told me today this was normal in this soundfile as this was normal for most of the SP's. That's the first I've heard that ever and didn't know if this was a problem for Dan or any viewers besides me. Or maybe an ESU problem? Otherwise I love the model in DCC Loksound V5.

This is an attractive model of the emd sd24, this model is interesting to observe and the sd24 is unique as being emd's first "turbocharged series" diesel locomotive model. If I were to decide to purchase this model for myself I would order either the UP or the ATSF version of this diesel model as both railroads feature the "low nose" appearance from their sd24 engines.

I remember when this was originally released. I saw it at my buddy Chuck's shop and I wished they did it in N...he told me, They do, and I got one!

Setting CV163 to a value of 4 will set it with the correct S3L

Thanks for the advice-worked like a charm! Any problem with the bell double ring when activating??

@@Archerman.4514 Nope. The factory sound file shouldn’t have any funny auto bell logic that overlaps
@Archerman.4514 Жыл бұрын
Interesting I received an ESU bulletin that mentions auto bell logic from Atlas. Never heard of auto bell (been in the hobby a long time)-do you know for sure CJR, that this may be the cause? I will check the bulletin as I believe there is a way to turn that off. Have never heard a train bell double ring before & maybe auto bell has something to do with it. Thanks for the feedback.

@@Archerman.4514 Older ESU files such as the OEM files on the ScaleTrains 1st-3rd Dash 9 and all ET44 runs have two separate sound slots, one for normal bell and another from auto bell. DBRX Custom Models has a tutorial on his channel that shows you how to disable auto bell without a Lokprogrammer device

I see from your profile you model legacy CNJ & LV in Central Jersey. I grew up there and Bound Brook was a favorite spot which I have pictures in the 60’s of both RR’s. Are you from the area? Thanks for the feedback about auto bell.
