Well, it wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I enjoyed watching the video LOL. Sorry about the lousy turnout. Still a decent amount of stuff left the garage. Good job with repurposing the rolling carts. Hopefully, your dad will let you organize his stuff properly-that would be a good series.

While my daughter was young and outgrowing clothes and toys, I participated in several yard sales that made over $100 each. Similar to this, it was a street sale where my parents live so it was a fun little community event.

I’ve had 3-4 yard sales and always made $200-700 between me and my mom. But they are a lot of work if you prep well, advertise, put up signs around the neighborhood, label everything, etc. I have now gotten to the point of just selling things online at my own pace and donating the rest.

oh gosh I hope you use that second rolling cart - anything that you can get off the floor and semi-organized, the better off the space is. Also garage sales are the worst...however, it seems to inspire your family to try to declutter, mom's hoarding eye notwithstanding ;)

Yeah eventually found a spot for it but will have to find something else to home things on it since we have another shelf now! haha this is true!

I have a garage sale every year it’s a multi family one and have it from Wednesday to Saturday and we do really well. What we don’t sell we donate to the church for their garage sale for charity.

I live in Fort Worth TX, and I have done yard sales usually once a year. It's a great way to declutter as you are cleaning out. Then donate what doesn't sell! As I've been selling some of my items, Ive begun a cash stuffing savings system. Nice way to save for for car and home maintenance! Also donate quite a bit, but it can be a slow process to declutter - full time work, yard work, etc. Looks like yall got rid of alot, just dang rain didnt help! Every little bit counts!

I quit having garage sales at my place. Had two days of estate sales for my mom’s hoard. It was worth it. I feel a little bad because I gave a lot of stuff away so I wouldn’t have as much to haul to donation centers. But I noticed the folks that took a lot of the free stuff seem to be hoarders judging by the way their cars were packed full of items. It’s amazing how getting rid of that one box gave you so much room in your parents garage.

I've been looking forward to your garage sale. I'm sorry the weather wasn't better and you didn't have a better turn out. Yes, I used to have a yard sale every other year; in my younger days when I had more energy. Now...I have changed my mind set; they are not worth all the work. I don't want to spend days setting it up, sitting around all day waiting on people, then packing it all up. If it's worth less than $10.00-20.00, depending on what it is, it gets donated. Anything over that amount can be sold on market place, less hassle, as buyer can come get it. Yes, save those rolling carts, you still have the rest of the garage to do, they're good storage, you'll find a use for them. School books, guilty, I still have a few boxes of them as well. Much of the information is out dated, not up to date. But in my case, they are over 50 years old. How cool is that....you went to the American Music Awards - Nice!

Thank you, it's okay. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I definitely understand what you mean, sometimes it's just easier to donate. Wow, that's crazy! Yeah, the AMA's was so fun!

I hate yard sales. I just did one on June 2, and it was the first time I actually made enough money to make it worth my while. A few years ago I did one and made a grand total of $13.50 after sitting in the broiling sun and humidity for hours. I'd rather donate. The tax deduction is probably worth more than whatever I would make.

Crazy how it can go either way. This time around collectively we made about $90, last year was almost $200 so huge difference!

Hi Mariela! We also had a yard sale a few weeks ago which went quite well financially but was also a ton of work and a few people were really petty about prices. I definitely feel like those sales can be great from time to time but if it's about letting go of many items, I think donating is the way to go. Thanks for sharing!

I don't mind helping at yard sales for others but I have to be in the mood for it. I like going to yardsales but it's been such a letdown in recent years, because I see so many people just throwing anything on a pile and expecting money for trash 😂 I don't get it

I used to do alot of yard sales when I was younger. We always had a great turnout and made alot of money. Now that I am older, I just donate items or put on my buy nothing group. I understand what you mean about donating right away, so you don't change ur mind. I have waited to donate after decluttering, and got tempted to keep a few things I didn't need.....

I feel garage sales are a quick way to declutter unwanted items but definitely having to let them go at a super cheap price. My husband has held yard ashes at his mom’s house and so many people would constantly be rude and say this is a yard sale these are not yard sale prices lol. Luckily my hubby doesn’t take it to heart but there’s so much that goes in to planning a yard sale. I think they are worth it if you have a lot of stuff you want to get rid of.
