Hi, just an idea in regards to the laundry bin: if you realise that you have the tendency to throw your dirty clothes in a particular spot, which seems to be the left side of your wardrobe, maybe put the laundry basket there. Getting you closer to actually putting them away and making it easier to take up the habit. You did great in this video!

Gift cards go directly in my wallet so when I’m out and about I can used them up. Cash either in my wallet to use for groceries or errands, if it’s a big amount put it in the bank and directly pay onto a bigger bill. Cards I keep for a month or so reread and then recycle. Envelopes straight into recycling when I open the card. You’re doing a great job! I have a ton to declutter and you are an inspiration ❤️

Greetings. Glad to see you using taller items of furniture. With tall furniture you are utilising the space all the way to the ceiling. In your laundry room, could you put a very tall shelf unit to for your sentimental items to go on the top with laundry at the bottom for easy access, until your basement is sorted for a sentimental library section.🦏
@couponlady72403 жыл бұрын
Impressive job Mr. & Mrs HH! That heart shaped shelf is really nice! I imagine some of the most special things to both of you on it with the Mr. & Mrs. sign above it. Somethings that bring both of you joy. JOURNAL 📓 STORAGE IDEA 💡: If your journals bring you joy, I would store them under your bed on one or two plastic under the bed containers. If they are a mix of joy and hard times, maybe in the laundry room on the shelves that were cleared. Books 📚 are heavy, so maybe 2 containers that stack would be a good idea. Years ago I heard something that “makes sense” about what we keep in the bedroom. Basically if we have things “in - on - and around us “ that bother us (ie. Under the bed), then that will “disturb our sleep 💤 “. If those things are “accessible when needed, but out of the way when not needed for daily life, then what still serves you can be reachable, but not in prime storage space. Maybe both of you could use matching tall cabinets beside your beds that had shelves or drawers on the bottom, but shelves with a glass front on top to “display and see often your favorite things”. Maybe gifts 🎁, unpacked could have a zone here for awhile. Take a picture, love being loved for a month or so, then create the home where it will be used and still appreciated. Put the pictures in a “Gifts Remembered” Album that you display there, always. That way you’re always remembering gifts 🎁 from others, treasuring them your way, yet, when you’re ready, putting the gifts into “use it” mode in a place where they will serve you well in your home. Important: honor the gifts 🎁 by always keeping the display area looking like it’s reflecting your gratitude for the gifts 🎁, and it’s not a “dumping ground for gifts received”. It depends upon what you can afford and what you are really ready for. CARD IDEA 💡: I’m sentimental about cards with special words of love and encouragement and appreciation. I was given a hand crafted chest when I was growing up. I decided to keep my “special cards” in there. My husband gave me a smaller chest, so I keep “love notes” from him in there. They’re chests I love with my most sentimental stuff inside. That brings me joy and I keep them in our bedroom. If you don’t have a chest or something special right now, maybe an under the bed bin will work right now until you know what you would love to have and have cash buy it. ANOTHER JOURNAL STORAGE IDEA: It’s not cheap, and I have mentioned it before, but it’s a desk “just for you” by a company called “Create - a - Room”. They used to be called Scrapbox.com, but the company was sold. I imagine you would enjoy the “Dreambox”❣️ Right now it’s just time to gather like things you value keeping. Then break things down into categories. Then you can see better if this will serve you well. I’m dreaming of one, but after our son’s wedding 🎩 and some other large expenses! Meanwhile, I’m pondering exactly where I want to put everything. One last idea, but not cheap: Basically have the Master Bedroom be a bedroom at night and an office for both of you during the day. Your bed could become a Queen or King Murphy bed with storage cabinets beside it (and night slide out tables for the things you like beside you while you sleep). In the morning wake up, make the bed disappear, and use the Dreambox and other furniture that maximizes space to create your dream office areas! Your son’s jaws may drop! I also LOVE the drawers and cabinets by BestCraftOrganizers.com! You can also have a table that rolls and expands, but the catch is that everything would need to be put away at night. You can have spaces for “Projects in Process”, so it’s easy to get to the current and most important projects. The two of you can have private planning space there. You can each choose chairs that you love 💕 ‼️ It can be a “both of you” space, yet serve your craft needs, yet be a place to manage life/office. It can become a place where you both prepare to greet the family and the world 🌎, and then it’s your “personal and couple retreat” at home. It’s time to dream big!

It’s me again, one last thought 💭 about 📔 journals. It’s actually a story. When I was a teen I started writing ✍🏻 more often in my journal 📔. I’m not a bookworm, so I didn’t read it. When I was a Senior I realized I had never read my own journal! So I took the time to read it. It was only about 1 inch for 3 years of journaling, but I was amazed with what happened! I didn’t realize how much I had grown, and I gained a deeper and more significant love and appreciation for myself ❣️ I’ve never forgotten that experience. I just wanted to suggest, when you’re ready, go ahead and read your journals📚. They may help you grow, appreciate and love yourself more and encourage your personal growth. It can be “your older self loving 🥰 your younger self” kind of experience if you want it to be that too. Maybe some parts you may want to rewrite into a summary of that time in your life, like lessons learned and some stories you value sharing with your family and others kind of collection. Maybe some stories haven’t been written that you value being recorded. It’s important to record these moments and memories and thoughts 💭 because when we leave the world 🌎, all that’s left of us is what we leave behind. Record what’s special to you in a way that honors these thoughts 💭, memories and experiences in a way that will be a good record of your life. Use your planners, etc to help create your record. Then, you’ll know what to do with everything and how to give it a respectful home that it deserves. I believe a personal and family record like this can bring you much joy and gratitude and can help one see and remember God’s hand in our life and in the lives of others, if that’s what we want to see. Best wishes to your journal/planner journey!

THOUGHT 💭 ABOUT LEGGINGS: If you always put what you wear away in the front, you will “see” more and more what you actually use. Then, when you want to, you can let go of what you’re ready to let go of down the road. OFFICE SUPPLIES IDEA 💡: I started with Ziplock bags and put all pencils ✏️ in a bag, all 🖊 in a bag, etc and 🏷 labeled every bag. This helped me “see” what size of a container I needed for each type of “like category”. I had a lot of supplies! I started by buying about 25 pencil boxes, just to gather loose office supplies around the house! It’s been about 9 years since I did that, and I don’t need to buy office supplies very often at all! I’ve tossed some, given some things away for Halloween 🎃 and schools, focused heavily on using what we have and offered to our sons as they have launched to generously stock up for their future! We still have plenty, and as we enter the Empty Nest Dtage, I value always being prepared and able to share, but I’m pondering downsizing the pencil ✏️ continues too. I like the thought 💭 of having magazine holders with small pencil containers that slide out in a row inside of each container. I can make a label 🏷 of the categories inside. It would look 👀 look nice on a shelf and be easy to get to. I prefer many things in small containers in large zones, but do what works best for you and your family. Everyone is unique!

Concerning the journals I think a very important question is how you want to use them. Do you want to read them on a regular basis or just store them to keep them safe. Because depending on your answer you may prefer one storage solution over another. e.g. if you want to keep them safe and not have anyone peak in them up high in a closet might be great. If you do want to read them a book shelf might be preferable because you can easily reach them.

I think it would be nice if you could have a bookshelf (maybe in the bedroom) to display some of your sentimental items. That way they're being enjoyed everyday instead of stored away, you could even rotate some out every so often to enjoy more of them. But keeping with Dana White's container concept it could be a good way to keep the sentimental items contained while still enjoying them. Keep your journals on there if you like, I absolutely love going through my old journals it's one of my favourite things to do. I'm so excited for your next video those 90's sentimental paraphernalia look so fun! How nice would it be to have some stuff like that on a shelf too, like a little museum exhibit of your life, and it may make it easier to let go of more since you're able to enjoy it every day.

My approach to living with less is understanding I have projects that I would like to think about and thoughtfully organize. I have taken pictures of old cards and everything is digital. I only kept the cards from my family who have passed. My change of mind that has come from my own journey is understanding a system might not be working or that it is for right now and I might have to change it later. You are doing an amazing job! As you probably won't reach for them regularly, I would put them in a hard to reach place like under your bed, on the top shelf of a closet. As for important paper, I try to separate out money and gift cards right away, so I don't forget about it or lose it. I try to make a not of the gift I receive in the card. I then keep the cards on a big wall mounted frame that was intended as a picture board, so they work as decoration for a while and I can enjoy them. I regular add cards and then go through them twice a year, throw some out and put the important once in a sentimental box. I have a gift card organizer, so I always know where all the gift cards are including a list of them and the available value. There are a lot of cute craft ideas out there. I keep the organizer with my coupons and budgeting things in a drawer and I try to use them quickly as to not let the go overboard.

Dear Ms Heart, are you buying a new bed for your sanctuary? If so I would get one with under bed storage. Your journals and precious items from your nightstand could go in there. It’s an easy thing to open a drawer and walk down memory lane ❤️. My sister’s bed has a mattress that lifts up on hydraulics so the entire underside is storage. If no new bed is in your future, then definitely do under bed totes on wheels. These would work just as well. Great work today! Inspirational as always ❤️🇦🇺❤️

I use a small photo album, the dollar tree sells these, to put gift cards in. Then I can flip through and see what I have without them weighing down my wallet. I keep mine at home but you could toss it in your purse when you are going to shop or eat out.

You put stuff straight to the recycling and car!😁 WINNING! 🏅 with charity shops closed here, I’ve got quite the trip hazard in my room (but at least it’s now stuff that’s been dedicated to leave and not all general clutter!)

Once you hang the heart shelf use it to display your special gems and rocks! If you had space under your bed for storage maybe you could get a low to the ground bin and use it for your journals and slide them under the bed. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Cards get hung from little clips on a chain in the kitchen where I can enjoy them for a month or so. Then I take them down and toss most. Any that have a super special message go in a memorabilia box, or the photo Xmas ones have a special box of their own, organized by year, that I take out every Xmas to reminisce about. After a month of seeing them every day much of the sentiment wears off, easier to toss! You inspired me and I'm taking down the Xmas ones right now, in time for Vday and DD's bday.

I said in another post to think about painting the furniture. Certainly, do not paint his dresser! Beautiful! But maybe still think of how you might draw the other pieces together with paint! Also, if you do not use the old dresser for party supplies, use the drawers under the bed for shoes, etc. I have picked up drawers from old dressers on the roadside for years, painted them, put felt or sliders on them to move easily and not damage floors. I'm in a very small house, and that is where I keep seasonal decorations, candles, extra beauty/hygiene, off season shoes, and so much more. I love them, and my mom's beds also have drawers underneath. They look great and stay out of the landfill!

For greeting cards I keep the cute ones or ones from close family on display for a while (standing up on my dresser usually) then any cards that just have a quick signature and no hand-written message I immediately toss. Every so often (twice a year?) I go through my greeting cards and only keep my favorites or ones that have messages that mean a lot to me. I only started doing this a few years ago so I had A LOT of greeting cards to sort through. I keep a couple big envelopes and put stacks of the cards I keep in there and then put those as well as any cards that didn't fit into a small gift bag. That then goes in my big box of sentimental items.

Greeting cards: grandma used to tear off the picture on the front and use it as a gift tag for future gifts. That way we can enjoy the cards once more before upcycling

So sweet that your hubby made that heart shelf for you. Suggestion....Hang it on the wall in your bathroom and use it to get some items off your counter. Perfume maybe? May even want to spray paint it a color to spruce it up and match bath:-) I have a "card wallet" in my purse. Gift cards go immediately into my purse so that I can use them. Honestly, I dont save cards anymore. I did years ago and found myself with hundreds of them that were never used or looked at and just took up space...so I recycled them all (I did save a few with special notes from parents, grands and my hubby and children) But, if you feel you MUST keep the cards, write on the back of the card what it contained. Like the cash amount or the gift card that was in it etc

I don’t keep any cards. I don’t throw them out right away, but after a couple of days. When will I look at them if I store them somewhere? I really don’t. The love someone showed me by getting me a card or a gift is not diminished if I choose not to keep the item. Money and giftcards I put in my bag or wallet right a way, where they belong. You’re doing great progress on the bedroom, can’t wait to see the end result!! 🤩🤩🤩

I suggest putting your rocks and crystals in a small dish so you can admire them. Or a display case. I completely understand the attachment to papers and journals. I write in journals about daily events, life events, lists, etc. Store it somewhere you can easily access it, but it won't take up much space or get dirty like in the closet if you have room. You're doing amazing! Make a routine every day to do simple things, such as putting dirty laundry where it belongs/put empty boxes and bits of paper and trash in the trash at the end of the day, so it doesn't cause clutter. That's my suggestion. Much love!

Your off to a strong start. Good for Mr. Heart on clearing his hoard. Journals in an under the bed bin? that way safe from the elements. Cards and gift cards a file system? Put the cash and gift cards where you'll use them purse, wallet, near the computer if online shopping. The bank.

I don't keep cards, but if they're sentimental and you want to keep them you should put them with sentimental. Take the cash and gift cards and stick them in your wallet or purse, otherwise you won't think to use them. Also, this is unrelated, I have an old vase that I put all the rocks my kids give me. It sits on a shelf in my living room. You could do something like that with all of your special rocks and crystals.

Wow, kudos to your husband and even you... It's becoming easier for your brain muscles to declutter and clean. Excited to see your room soon. 🥰🥰🥰 For your sentimental items, you may want to put either on your top shelf of your closet or at the bottom corner where you can keep them yet away from eye clutter. For your cards with cash or gc, you can put them in an envelope, and then money can be kept for your savings, gift cards can be organized along with other regular gift cards and if there will be certain category, you may group each of it. Hope it'll help. 😊

I would put the gift cards in your wallet or a in a pocket of your purse. Put the cash in the bank or in a drawer for emergencies. The journals maybe put under your bed in a rolling tote. You are doing an amazing job of decluttering and getting organized...keep up the great work.

Hey girl, your decision making is getting so confident. Love seeing your progress but I think it would be a good idea to give a little space in closet for hubbies shoes and jackets so his items feel as special as yours and when they are hung up it will look less cluttered and feel so much more spacious 🦄💗🌺

I throw the cards in recycling, put the gift cards in the pocket in my purse and put the cash in the bank. Literally, the day after receiving. I also keep a Sharpie in my purse to write on the back of the gift cards any remaining balance and then toss or don't request a receipt. The rocks & crystals should be displayed. Good job on the clean up.

You can have “a Wish List Financial Zone” for those things you would love, but you normally wouldn’t spend the money on yourself for something special like that. They aren’t critically needed, but when a financial gift comes along, then you’ll know what you want to save or use it for the most. Maybe that wish is your current Dave Ramsey step too. It’s your choice❣️

Your decluttering muscles are just.. wow! You are powerlifting with them!! Great job!! For cards and gift cards and such, I write on the back of the greeting card or inside on a discrete spot how much was in there, then place the money/gift cards in my wallet so I don't forget to use them. If there is a lot of money that I want to save for something special, I make a jar that goes in a cupboard where I also keep the family passports, foreign currency, spare keys, etc. The cards I read through and appreciate one more time, but if the message is generic ("Happy Birthday, love aunt and uncle"), I will throw them away. The "letter" cards go in a sentimental drawer, but honestly I have kept maybe 10 in total for my 34 years on the planet. Hope it helps!

Gifts are written on the back of the cards so we can reference for thank you notes. I have a cash envelope wallet with clear envelopes/Ziploc style. It's similar to a Dave Ramsey's envelope stuffing item. We hold gift cards, etc. I have a family gift card envelope and one for each family member. I just labled each envelope. I even keep my stamps in one, and then pocket cash, gas money, grocery money, Just for example. Great job Mr. 💙
