You are mentioning several times your "bad old habits". Don't be so rude with yourself, you are doing a great job. It takes time to get rid of old habits and to incorporate new ones. This doesn't happen overnight. But I think the Flylady method is perfect for you to really incorporate them into your life. You just started with this system. So by the end of the year, your house will be perfect!!! Keep going 🥳

Its improving! Your doing great. One tip: do not use the chairs to hang coats, a habbit in your house I think. Because in every clip, the coats are on chairs, not on the coats rack next to the door. It will look so much nicer when every person learns that habbit in your house 🧥🧥🧥🧥

Pachirisu! (regional pokémon in PGo in my area) I love your creativity. When I'm not being distracted by squirrels, I keep wondering about the layout of your main room. It's both living room, dining room and entrance area, and the three aren't really geographically distinct. I find myself wondering if rearranging the furniture so that you have a distinct entrance area, a distinct dining area, and a distinct living room area would help a bit with clutter. For example if you had a distinct entrance area so that all the inbox clutter went there instead of spreading everywhere, and you kept a bin for recycling paper, you could deal with a lot of it before you ever got near the table. Same with hanging up coats. You have coat hooks but the coats are on the backs of chairs. Also that storage unit on the wall opposite the door - I'm not sure why you even have it or what it does. Maybe moving it to make a "wall" might help. I'm not sure what the answer is, or where to find it. Maybe The Cozy Minimalist? Or a YT video I'm not familiar with?

Happy Birthday to your son! Those bubble wands are adorable! Suggestion...and you'll have to practice this to make it a habit. Have one location where you put all paper that comes into your house-dining room table or kitchen counter. That way you do not have to spend time collecting it from various spots. It will be quicker to go through if it's all in one spot! Great job...your new floor will look amazing!!

Junkmail - the way I handle it. It never comes in my house - straight to the recycling bin. I go past the recycling bin and dump it before I go inside the house. I also open mail before I go inside and envelopes go in the recycling too. I don't get much because I have a sign on my mail box "No junkmail" If I want to buy something I can always find it online. Bills can be delivered by email.

I’m still very behind and trying to catch up to real time on your videos, but I wanted to give you a tip on how I deal paperwork. It can take SO much time! My husband and I get paid twice a month, so I have a pretty gold file holder (I found it at a thrift store for $1.99!) that I stuff all the mail each day in. When it’s payday, I pull it all out and go through it as I pay the bills. That way I KNOW the paperwork is getting done at least twice a month and it’s all contained in the meantime. I love your channel and I’m cheering you on. Hopefully I’ll catch up soon. ❤️ Tracie

I've managed to watch ALL of your videos over the past week, and by the way, CONGRATULATIONS on getting the chaos under control! Your momentum is motivating. I'm just wondering what method you feel has worked best for you, konmari, smallest room first, or flylady? Like if you had to recommend a strategy to someone else what would it be? Or would it be a combination?
@reddtraining
@reddtraining 4 жыл бұрын
They're all good for different things. Konmari helps you figure out what you value for stuff (ie. anything you toss should be things you don't use and things you have no emotions attached to - attached to the sippy cup? Keep the sippy cup and put it somewhere you can appreciate it), and Flylady helps with the general upkeep and teaches you how to create and edit your plan as you go (ie. If you tend to let clutter build, it helps you be mindful of that and encourages it to be put away appropriately) . And small room first... I can see how it could help someone feel less overwhelmed, but personally for me I need to start in the messiest area and work into the cleanest.
@ahoardersheart

For hoarding disorder the smallest to largest rooms Declutter. That was how I started to keep my anxiety calm and get a quick victory! I’ve built my momentum from that!! KonMari is good for non-hoarders and Flylady is pretty well-rounded! Thank you so so much for watching my videos!!! That was just so so sweet ❤️🙏🏻❤️

I don't know if it is but... If any of that mail is junk mail you don't want to receive, you could try putting a notice asking not to receive it on your letter box, or try unsubscribing from catalogues and things. Don't know if that's how it works in the US :) in England, it's quite easy to unsubscribe from junk mail. It would save you some minutes every week xx keep up the great work! I also did the kon Marie on my clothes this week, all in one go and I've never realised how easy it is to get tired and confused about making decisions! Going to do it in smaller categories next time.

Since watching you demonstrate the fly lady process I have implemented some of her ideas. I don't do the email part yet. But I have a morning and night routine, just a couple key things, and it has really helped make my house look less crazy and days go smoother. I've noticed my regular more in depth cleaning has gotten shorter and easier since I'm maintaining the small stuff. Just a question.....would one of those cabinets from you kitchen work better in place of the kitchen table? Would the kitchen table even fit in the kitchen like maybe next to the fridge? Then you could create a station right near the front door to deal with papers and misc. Items. And all eating activity furniture would be in the kitchen. So happy you have a flooring date. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Look at you getting 2 of your problem areas tackled in a week vs a multi week process per area. A little bit of clutter is fine in my opinion. It shows a house is lived in. Not everyone is cut out to be a 100% OCD everything needs to be perfect model house renter. As long as you can get the house in order in about an hour before guests (including sweeping, dusting, toilets etc) arrive (without dumping it all in the laundry room) I think its fine. The catch is you need to keep up on the clutter enough so it's not overwhelming.

Let me film that for my video!!!” Lol We’re all learning these new habits! Also hubby is sensitive to my hoarding disorder.
