On a heli, if they go back to center immediately after you move it by hand, that means "Rate Mode" instead of "Heading Hold" mode

dmerc00, The "hunting" jitters of the servos is due to the gain pots being set too high. If you were to try to fly like that, you would get bad oscillations that get worse at higher speeds. I adjust my gyros down low and sit the aircraft down so it will remain still. Then I crank up one of the gyro pots at a time until I get jitters, and back off just enough for it to stop.

Yes you are right but the problem still arises you cannot use separate sub trim or aileron throw by using a single servo wing set up. I think this is either design fault on the Orange or a design fault in the DX8. Most wings have 2 servos and you need to adjust each one individually if you are using the stabiliser, just the same as if you are not using the stabiliser. Nice to hear your comments, very much appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I do not have retracts and use the Gear switch to control the gyro off and on. But if you use a standard 2 servo wing set up the gear switch does not turn the gyro off or on. The only way I have found to get the switch to work is again to have a single servo set up for the ailerons and ` "Y" connector. This is not good as most planes these days have two indipendant servos allowing you to control each aileron sub trim separately.

I believe if you turn the gain down on the 3 pots you won't get as much chatter from the servos

Thanks very much. Perhaps I failed to mention I am using the combined receiver and gyro. I had exactly the same problem when using the V2 gyro with a separate receiver. All "V" and Delta tails are off and no flaps. Just to confirm with a 2 servo wing setup and when I put the right aileron into the aileron connector of the receiver/gyro and the left into the AUX you cannot turn the gyro OFF from your transmitter. Works OK, like in your video with a "Y" connector and one servo setup.

If oscillations are noticed, continue to turn the gyros down until they stop. At this point I like to use a small Keychain camera mounted on the aircraft. If oscillations are noticed in the video, (except for in high wind) turn the gyro pots down in small increments. This should smooth everything out. Generally, when I do the bench adjustments, the aircraft fly quite well. Hope this helps and Happy flying!

i just put one on my 800mm T6 Texan. used aileron only. super simple and worked awesome !

you can also get one with the receiver built in. you can turn down the sensitivity so you wont get that noise. It will wear out our servos if you let it do that.
@BAMFSpYdy10 жыл бұрын
Turning down your gains will stop the jittering of the control servos. Thats what the 3 adjustable pots are for.

They have V2 now with switch for delta mix and switch for v-tail mix, very good and cheap.

Hey Rocky. I think this would be more likely to work with the basic KK board. I will try it and let you know.

I too have one of the OrangeRx stabilizers and mine locks up on the stick movements after it is on for a while (20 - 30 seconds or so). I am sending mine back for a replacement because I know it will lead to a crash:( I wish this unit was a heading hold unit like the AS3X's are!

I think you could turn the gyro on/off. If you don't run any power to any of your AEL/RUD/ELEV connections, and you run JUST +/- to the BAT connection to a switched channel on the receiver, you could potentially power on/off the receiver at will.

Hi, an outstanding video but you fail to mention that the on/off switch only works if you have a wing setup using one servo. I also have a DX8 and it took many hours to find out that if you have a wing set on your transmitter using 2 servos you cannot switch the stabiliser OF and ON. Your video indicates you have a choice of using one to two servos, one with a "Y" lead. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the video. You have one of the build you did for the plane you used to test the OrangeRx stablizer? Or maybe a link?

did you completely forget about the little reverse dip switches? get rid of that splitter plug it directly in and flip the dip switch
@DaveMerc8 жыл бұрын
+BofaDeez2Nuts Nope didn't forget. The Y-Splitter saves having to extend the servo leads and just makes life easier for connecting.
@prime-eight8 жыл бұрын
+dmerc00 have you heard of a glitch buster? it's a small capacitor hooked to an empty slot on the receiver that catches all the noise... I got one and voila no more servo glitching. another fix is wrapping the servo wires thru a ferrite loop to reduce the noise. but seriously.. splitters cause jitters.

New to hobby and going to install flight simulator to trainer. I'm confused in the action of the stabilizer. If the plane rolls right, should the aileron go down?
@Sty1a10 жыл бұрын
uhm if the plane gets rolled to the right.. this gyro will counteract and make the aileron of the right wing down.. bringing the plane back to leveled flight
@keihasspju9 жыл бұрын
can this be used with another type of receiver not the orange?? i have ezuhf on my plane will it be compatible?
@DaveMerc9 жыл бұрын
+Alejandro De La Garza Version 2 will work with any receiver but version 3 has a built-in receiver so you have to use a Spektrum compatible TX.
@keihasspju9 жыл бұрын
+dmerc00 i have The same versión as The video my problem is that when i turn on The stabilizer and move my plane The servos react the correct way but immediately servos return to neutral position even if i hold my plane tilted, the servos dont remain correcting The movement

I spend a good deal of time going over your videos on this stabilizer and now I have two of them. They are simple and they work. If you get time, check out my channel for my most recent video of my scratch built Blue Cub taking off, flying, and landing. That plane is such a treat to fly!!! It flies very well without the stabilizer but the stabilizer does help smooth things out. I like it!

Lol Of course it hunts when you pick it up. You've destabilized it. There is nothing to fix. It's doing exactly what it was designed to do.
