A long press on the XBC100 will show you the Smart menu of smart batteries. This means you don’t necessarily need a smart charger to program smart discharge

Yes, you are right. Don't know how I missed that. Thanks!

I think all of the smart chargers with a screen can do it, as well. Only the S150 and S120 can’t.

I love the idea of getting your data directly from the ESC and battery directly without having to plug in extra wires every time you connect the battery. This though seems as much about brand protection as it is about offering new features. Other companies already offer the option to get direct ESC data, without forcing you to use Spektrum only.

The S150 Smart charger is AC / DC ... When out at the field where there is no AC power out lets, how can you power the charger with a DC power supply such as 12v car battery ? there is no DC cable adapter... what do you suggest ,
@HobbyView3 жыл бұрын
On the side is a IC3 input connector for 12V. You can make you own adapter or order part number: SPMXCA315 and just add snap on alligator clips to it.

Thanks for the Quick Reply , I will put one together , Its odd that Spectrum does not mention this / or supply one with the charger , Thanks again for solving this problem

I have a question. I am trying to make a guillow edge 540 rc and I was wondering what prop I should use. I am running a 180 brushless outrunner 2500kv on 3s 20c
@HobbyView4 жыл бұрын
Do you have to use 3S. That is probably too much for that motor. I would use 2S, then you could use a 5-inch prop.

I like to keep things simple so... For electric, I'll fly anything from UMX types with 2S-250MA lipo's up to 450-sized planes with 3S-2200MA lipo's. Everything else gets wet power. Come to think of it, when are you going to review some of those wonderful Dumas kits? The 30" rubber jobs are perfect for converting to EP R/C. Just a thought...

I'd love to see the "smart" PCBs be made available to end users for install into other batteries because, frankly, spektrum battery packs are rubbish. I'm also curious if the developers of this technology have thought about how it would be implemented and used on aircraft that use multiple battery packs in series/parallel combinations.

The Avian 80 amp ESC works for 3s-8s. It has a built in series harness with two IC5 device connectors. The esc sends telemetry information for both of the batteries. Or you can use just one battery in either port, and just use the included battery plug to complete the circuit.
@charliemarchiony79144 жыл бұрын
They’re currently working on a way to get telemetry from two smart esc’s, though it’s currently not possible. As for spektrum batteries, I’ve been quite satisfied with my 3s 1300, 4s 2200, 4s 3200, and 6s 5000, which I just use as a DC power supply with my S1200 to charge at my field

Too bad spektrum nickel and dime you with the attachment cords when other companies include them. $13 just for one ic3 to ic5 when the charger should have had the bigger ic5 outlets to begin with.
