The whole Hobgoblin identity situation is still so crazy to me. Hobgoblin's first appearance was a mystery story in which Peter was trying to find who he was. So it was supposed to be Rodrick Kingsley originally, then the writer got fired off the book before he finished the story, and they made it Ned Leeds. All because it was someone close to Peter, even though every clue pointed to Rodrick being the Hobgoblin. I think it was later retconned to always be Rodrick Kingsley but yeah, that's Marvel for you

Oh, it's MUCH. MUCH. CRAZIER. So yes, the first writer who created the Hobgoblin left the Amazing Spider-Man comic without telling anyone who the Hobgoblin was (supposedly). The second Amazing Spider-Man writer (who was writer #1's editor) comes on board and decides the Hobgoblin is gonna be Richard Fisk. But he also decides to create a new villain in the Rose who he decides will be Roderick Kingsley. However, editor #2 and him get into it. So Editor #2 fires Writer #2, decides to kill off Ned Leeds (who he thought was the Hobgoblin) and let's a fill-in writer finish the story (the at the time Web of Spidey writer) who is given the task to make Ned the Hobgoblin. Editor #2 decides for a torched earth method after the reveal showing HOW Ned was the Hobgoblin. Clone Saga comes around, a Spider-Man editor asks Roger Stern if he'd be on board to finish the Hobgoblin Saga as writer #1 intended it. Writer #1 agrees to write Hobgoblin Lives, torches editor #2's Ned Leeds stuff so Ned is a dupe and the Hobgoblin who replaced the original (Jason Macendale) is murdered by the original Hobgoblin. This was all laid out before the Spider-Man Editor at this time knew upper management cleared Norman Osborn, the original Green Goblin to return.

There should be a Marvel universe, where all the characters are fashionable versions of themselves, but also nobody commits or stops crimes, the villains want to win fashion design competitions or something via "unsavory" means and the heroes have to beat them in those. Not by punching, but having runway duels, Zoolander style. "Here comes Spider-Man! He's so hot right now..."

There's a LOT more than 2. There's the Red Goblin, Gold Goblin, the Goblin Queen, and, completely unrelated, but DC has the Hemo-goblin, a vampire with AIDS... because clearly that needed to exist... Honorable mention to Jack o Lantern, who is deadass just hucking Kirkland brand pumpkin bombs.

I would totally want some series like this especially because in universe there’s characters like crazy quilt for DC who was originally a mad supervillain but after getting treatment became a tailor for superhero costumes, and honestly that is a wild and amazing character to follow for a superhero outfit design team (then add characters like Edna from incredibles and image the interactions they have) that would be amazing

There's actually 6 villainous Goblins HobGoblin, Green Goblin of whom 5 people have taken the mantle one was even heroic, Red Goblin (Carnage with Norman Osborn), Grey Goblin (Gabriel Stacey the "son" of Norman Osborn and Gwen Stacey), The Goblin king (Norman again) and his Goblin army and there's also the Gold Goblin I can't remember if that's a suit for Spidey built by Norman or it's Norman trying to be a good guy after being cleansed of his sin.

During Planet M, when Wanda altered the world to make mutants dominate over humans and used Prof. X to monitor everyones desires, Peter faked being a mutant rather than a mutate. He was rich, married to Gwen Stacy, just released webshooters as a tool for police and military use. Importantly, because the writers can never let Peter be happy; Peter's guilt over living a lie caused him to become Green Goblin as a split personality to punish himself for the lie.

I think there was a short story in a spider-man comic where a normal man that tailors for super heroes and super villains overhears about an attempted assassination and agonizes about telling someone since it would be a breach of trust. he even offers to design Peter a new costume.

See, Harry being able to improve the goblin glider in Spiderman 3 is an issue in like 6 different ways. For one thing, Harry in the comics is actually not a dumbass; he isn't a genius or anything but he -IS- a scientist and some what smart, with an intelligence score of 3 (average is 2). Another detail that gets missed? The goblin serum boosts intelligence to super human levels. But the real problem is, none of that really applied to the movies?? Like he was a dumbass, and in the movies the serum arguably made the goblins LESS intelligent.

So the reason why the Hobgoblin became an Avenger and the Hobheroes was due to the Marvel event "Axis". In it, Magneto blackmails Hobgoblin (along with other Marvel villains) to Red Skull (who attained the powers of Onslaught) and after the battle, the heroes/villains reverse roles (save a few heroes and Magneto). Kingsley set up a hero agency akin to the supervillain agency he did prior to this (hence the Hobheroes). To get Hobgoblin onboard to defeat the now "evil" heroes, Cap offered Hobgoblin an Avengers membership. That's how Hobgoblin is an Avenger. After the event, Kingsley went back to being EVIL, got one-shotted by Captain Marvel (because she was having couple issues with Spider-Woman I think due to Carol's antics in Civil War II). Bendis writes Kingsley like he's Macendale (because of course Bendis does) denies us a real good fight between Kingsley and Miles Morales. I'm glad the current writer of Miles gave us one of the best most brutal Spider-Man/Goblin fights recently and Kingsley appears to be pestering Miles more. All the better, as that character's comic is just leagues better than current ASM.
