Just watched the update...lots of crazy great suggestions for those of us considering a trolling motor. I really want to do this but here in Arizona, adding a motor means having to register the kayak, like a boat. That in turn means 3" tall letters/numbers stuck on both sides....Not thrilled about that (read: personal problem). Another issue I have, and you touched on it briefly in the video, is speed control. When I do this, I really want variable speed or at least, more options than a motor like the Watersnake offer, which is basically, "Go" or "Off" Any suggestions from you or other viewers is greatly appreciated. Thanks for posting.

Finally got my watersnake TM, and it was a game changer! I thought I would only use it to get to and from my fishing spots to same some energy but I was actually able to use it while fishing very efficiently, caught 4 of my 5 redfish limit while using the TM. Very good video by the way

Hi mate nice job can I ask you how do you Aline the propeller to pull out the casete for the trolling motor 🤔👌
@FishingWaus Жыл бұрын
I take a wire clothes hanger, and straighten it but keep the hook and cut it to size. Then I use wire shrink wrap to cover the metal part of the hook, which I use the adjust the prop. To use it, I pop the motor out of the Hobie latch giving enough room for the clothes hanger to go down the side. Then I use the clothes hanger to align by angling it back then bringing it forward to the prop and pulling it up. The last picture on this page has an image of the modified clothes hanger fishingwa.us/hobie-kayak-trolling-motor/

Can you explain how you got your battery and motor attached?
@FishingWaus2 жыл бұрын
go here fishingwa.us/hobie-kayak-trolling-motor/ the battery connects to an EC5 to SAE connector. Then the SAE connects to the motor or fishfinder.

the outback is 2016, the cassette for the newer outback and pro angler are bigger, like the one in the video, the revo and sport have the smaller cassette.

There are are 20,000 MAh jump starters on ebay for $36.99. Would one of these give you two hours of run time. Also, your 8200mAh jump starter you are using to power your kayak, at top speed how long would it last?

How long is the length of the watersnake shaft for this setup?
@FishingWaus3 жыл бұрын
I decided to get a revo and because the motor didn't fit the revo drive well i ended up selling the motor with the outback. I might build another one for the revo. I don't remember the exact length of the shaft. but keep it as short as possible.

@@FishingWaus amazing idea using a car jump starter battery.... did not know that would work as they always say you need a deep cycle battery. How does this compare to much larger 12v 35 AH battery?
@FishingWaus5 жыл бұрын
12v
@FishingWaus5 жыл бұрын
@@openmind6969 It's about 70% of 35ah battery. The biggest difference is that on the car jumper battery, the performance take a hit when it goes pass 50%, whereas the deep cycle keeps its power is constant through most of its usage.

FishingWa thanks. And the battery can be used for many more applications...and 1lb vs 15 lb battery is big difference in kayak.

@@69sopae It's ur motor. The motor i was using was only an 18lb thrust, At 28lb thrust, you need to get a lithium battery or a deep cycle battery.
