I have owned 3 pro Angler 14's and 2 outback and 3 wilderness kayaks and by far the Lynx is my favorite platform for fishing, it is worth the money, fast, light and turns on a dime. I do run a power pole and a 7 inch lowrance dept finder with maps and a hobie crate with a dry bag in side and carry 4-6 rods all the time with a fish bag on the front and put 2 8x14 plano boxes under my seat, I got 2 pocket organizers on both sides of my seat, which hold my fish sent and couple rags. also have seat raisers and removed both straps that were usless and added a large cup holder where the right handle was., I woulden't trade my setup for no other kayak on the market today, I love this thing for fishing on any water fresh or salt, I have caught hundreds of fish with it in the last 2 years., don't worrie about the scratchs on the bottom, there are 4-5 layers, this kayak is unsinkable, never worrie about a rain storm ao large waves, you won't regret buying one, I keep it fully loaded and slide it in to the back of my ford ranger and I can launch just about anywhere i can get my truck to. you can peddle this kayak all day at a low med speed with out getting tired, because it sits on top of the water not in the water.

i agree with your comments Light, maneuverable WAY TO EXPENSIVE the seat is not comfortable at all. Worst con of all takes away everything good this kayak has to offer. The hull is super hard and very very thin, you can scratch this kayak just by looking at it. I use the hobie cart to move kayak around. I have developed a large crack in one of the scupper holes where the cart goes and the other scupper looks like its about to crack as well. About 1.5” long, I was told not to use my kayak until the crack is repaired. I have to wait for hobie to send me a repair kit????? They don’t have an idea when i will get this repair kit???? There goes the rest of my season. This is a new kayak!!!! With all the extras needed to make it a good fishing platform I’m approaching 4000.00

Thanks for the review. I think I'm going to get one simply because I want something that I can fish minimalist style, instead of rigging it up like a bass boat (have one of those). Minimalist meaning, I just grab it and go, 1 or 2 rods, a sling pak for a few small lure boxes and go catch a few fish after work or something. If I catch a fish I want to bring home, then a simple stringer tied to an H-rail will do the job to drag it back to the shore when I'm done and throw it in the cooler in my vehicle. Again, simple, quick and easy yak to get on the water for a few hours when I have a minute to go and I don't want to make a big production out of it. Yeah, I wish they weren't in the $3k pricing range, but what are you going to do. Btw, those rubber skids are a great idea to solve those scratching issues that I've seen a few complain about..

Excellent review so thank you. I have been toying with getting one of these because I am a minimalist and don't need the Old Town Predator PDL that I have. I also don't do rivers or areas where it would get messed up. Boat launches is all I would have to deal with really. I love my PDL but it is so heavy and hard to get around. I could get rid of the trailer and roll with the Lynx but that price kills me. This is a $2K kayak and if Hobie sold it at that price they would kill the market. I have thought about trying the Pelican model that is close but they don't have reverse (and I am not buying the kayak and then a hobie drive). Maybe someday I will switch but who knows. C'Mon Hobie!!! Get with it. LOL!

LOL I take mine into really shallow creeks and rivers only no dents or holes yet. Hobie prices amaze me. As they as competition increases they go up! I understood it when there was only 1 or 2 options for pedal drive but now you can get pedal drive kayaks under $1k. I refuse to pay hobie accessory prices I try and buy after market stuff. I have no need for the hrails so I can avoid giving them more money.

I am not a small person. I max the weight of the Lynx and I take too much gear with me as well. I have literally floated across 3" deep riffles (drive out of course). You can float it in an inch of water and I think it would float with me on it in 2". That is incredible draft.

I also have this boat and absolutely love it! I’ve got all the accessories with the exception of the rails because they are like looking for dinosaurs that still are alive. I think the fastest I reached was 6mph with the regular fins going with the wind plus I was fully loaded down with all my gear. So far without the rails I’ve spent $5200

@@BlueSummitOutdoors I see. When you say too fragile, do you mean you had to continuously be mindful of pilings, concrete, oyster bars....stuff like that or was there something else? Thanks for the response. I have the AutoPilot 120, but I need something much lighter for camping and travel. I'm seriously thinking about getting the Lynx.
@BlueSummitOutdoors
@BlueSummitOutdoors 6 ай бұрын
@RadReelingFishing yea I love the old towns but they are heavy, so I went the inflatable route. When I say fragile this is what I mean. I had the lynx on my garage concrete floor, and sat in the seat to rig it up and see where I wanted to put some things. Just sitting in the seat on a concrete floor creased the hull underneath. I could see a stress crease where the plastic looked like it had been bent and discolored. The BOTE inflatable seems to be more durable oddly enough.

@@BlueSummitOutdoorsThanks for sharing your experience. I'm a bit Leary of inflatables just because I really like to catch Sheepshead, ha ha...I'm supposed to pick up a Lynx tomorrow with H-rails, H-crate, paddle and the Trax 2 plug in cart all for $2600. Sounds like a deal! They said everything is in great shape, we shall see.

@RadReelingFishing yea I don’t blame you inflatables really have to fish the style of fishing you do to make sense. $2600 is a steal especially with the accessories and with the current prices of everything thing. Nice find!

I’ve got two and love them. As for storage on the seats, I’ve gone with the yakgear yaksak. I’ve definitely babied mine cause of concerns over durability though. I agree they are overpriced, but man I love how light and easy you can get in and out.

If it was between $1500.00 - $2000.00 it might be ok, but at $3K Heck No !!!! There are so many other Kayaks out there at the price range of $3K that offer so much more. Yes Hobie it's Light but Light isn't everything !!!! Typical Overpriced Hobie. Pretty soon Hobie will have $7K -$10K kayaks, reminds me of Bass boats, when I had my First Ranger they were $25K now there a $100K Crazy Nuts Insane just to get out on the water and Fish !!!! My Children and my Wife are far more Valuable than a way, way, overpriced peace of Plastic. You are so Spot On with your review Blue Summit 😎👍

Loud meaning that the pedal druve is loud? Whats loud?
@BlueSummitOutdoors
@BlueSummitOutdoors 11 ай бұрын
No the material the boat is made out of is a lot louder than normal rotomolded kayaks. When you bump into something or drop something on the deck it is way louder than a normal kayak.

Yes it’s super light and sits on top of the water so it’s incredibly easy to pedal and really fast. So 3mph should definitely be doable. As long as you are in good enough shape (depending on current and weather) 8 hours should be no problem.

Excellent vid. I have an Outback and looking for a lighter option. Looking at the Lynx and Itrek. Recently picked up a cheap paddleboard and rigged it for fishing to give a go. Great, but I need a pedal drive.. Not sure what Hobie has going on with pricing. The Outback and Itrek were 3k in Canada. 4500 now which is crazy. Thinking of selling my Outback and moving on. Hobie if you're listening, I'm a big fan but you're gonna lose an owner forever.
