Had 2015 pa12 for 5 yrs & recently sold it & bought a 2021 PA12 360. The 360's manuverability is amazing & little faster too!! I prefer 12 because little lighter & shorter, fish lakes & alot small rivers/ large streams. The 14 could still definitely do it. I don't need extra room & carting through tight spaces & little less weight & length, I think is an advantage but 14' r still bad ass!!! & Once on water their both awesome. Family has a pa14 & an outback. I found the pa12 is just right for me.

Good timing I plan to buy a Yak late this summer. Doing my research. I need to get off the banks. I miss having a boat. When I did have one I did not want to lug it around, go figure. I fish a big river and would like to have the option of moving around more and covering off shore. I like the idea of the trolling motor model by Old Town but the hull looks novel vs serious. If Hobie put a motorized drive in a PA hull that would be real nice. I am afraid to buy a pedal drive and the following year they come out with a motorized version, if they did and you had the option to use the motor or pedal drive out of the same slot. That would be a game changer! I hope Hobie is listening and designing. I originally started out wanting a solo canoe but that has evolved.
@kristinefischer22894 жыл бұрын
Hobie does have a motor that fits into the drive well! It’s called the evolve! I don’t believe they will ever make a motorized kayak because their drive system is so efficient- but you may see them come out with better systems for mounting motors!

For the cost of the hobie pa 12 or PA 14 would I be better off to just get a used solid 16 foot flat bottom jon boat and a good used 9.9 outboard and a good spot lock trolling motor? Might cost a little more but sure would give me the ability to go miles and run alot of water. Right? Any suggestions? Ps I have a vibe seaghost 110. And I see already covering water paddling is tough and have to pick my days on water bc of wind waves boats etc

Goood question- here’s my take on it. I cover 10 miles a day fairy easy in my PA. It’s easy to haul around, and it can access any waters I want without restrictions. With a jon boat and motor, you aren’t able to drag those anywhere to fish, they are much heavier, require licensing and gas ;)

They used to be so far ahead of everyone else it wasn't even a question, now the quality control has gone to shittttttttttttt, the price has skyrocketed, and every other brand is letting out more innovative products.
