@HOBOTECH Thanks for all the info and tests you do. Have a question though. I am increasingly seeing lithium battery fires from cell phones to ebikes and electric vehicles. You seem to be the most knowledgeable on these batteries. Do you know what causes these fires? And how to prevent them? Would appreciate maybe a video on this subject or point me too an old video if you have covered this before! Thanks so much!

@@ariseandshinecrafts5390i believe-though I’m not very knowledgeable about the subject in general-LFP batteries are relatively safe in comparison to the older generation, Lithium Ion. I do assume they can burn under certain circumstances, like say from piecing them or crushing them or putting them in fire... but that they don’t generally catch fire from overheating or short circuiting, like lithium ion batteries can do, which I assume are what is being used in the phones and ebikes in question .... (Now hopefully this comment will motivate someone who knows better to pipe in and correct whatever misinformation I’m spreading ; )

Sometimes the KZbin algorithm doesn’t like changes to format. Good battery. I have been a strong supporter of 100ah 12v batteries but am now starting to realize this limits my battery bank to 5kw capacity. If I want to stick to a 12v system, I am contemplating the 200ah 12v batteries which can also be put 4 in parallel. That would double my capacity or allow the same capacity with less wiring. So many options.
@ainttakenanyshit Жыл бұрын
You need to consider to NOT "stick with a 12v system".... IF at all possible, you should consider a higher voltage system; 24 - 48 volts.... The savings from the lesser cost of COPPER wire due to much lower current draw, would be more efficient AND save money - well, almost ;-)

I have a 48v golf cart with eight 6V batteries in series. The golf cart batteries last 2-3 years and need to filled with distilled water annually. The replacement cost is about $1100. I am wondering if I could swap these batteries for the lead acid batteries without rewiring? The current 48v charger has a peak charge of 15amps and turns off when the batteries are fully charged. For not much more money, these batteries may be a good alternative. P.S. Forget the tear down. Your current review was perfect for the general user groups.

I would greatly value the tear down. I just met a day ago the review and pics in the from the buyer of another quite popular battery brand, there he got the battery with Li Polimer packages instead of LiFePO4 cells inside (sold as LiFePO4 cell, same 12V/100 Ah). It may be ok for casual use, but not for high-cycle applications like solar stations (daily charge/discharge). There is very high demand on LiFePO4 cells now, so DIY people buying batteries in retail risk to get B-class product.
@HOBOTECH Жыл бұрын
LiPo would be totally obvious as it has a different voltage (3.7v) than LFP cells (3.2v). I don't see how any brand could try to trick anyone by swapping them. You wouldn't even need a tear down to know something was way off.

I hope you can answer my question. If it stops charging at 32 and resumes charging at 41 then if the temp is 39 it will never start charging. There should be no damage. It needs to resume charging at like 35. Better BMS needed.

@charon79m Жыл бұрын
@@Krunch2020 the BMS limits current, so long as your cables can handle the theoretical top end of that, you don't need to know what's on the inside. Testing is good with a new battery. Is the 4000 cycle life of the battery really true? 10 years of constant use would be 3650 cycles…5 year warranty is less than half of “projected service life”….wonder if that holds true with heavy use. But the price is on par with a 100 amp/hr AGM battery. Maybe worth a try with my offgrid solar setup.

Great review. I've watched several reviews and I think they're great. I was looking for a review of possibly hooking 3 of these 12v 100ah batteries together to power a 36v EZGO golf cart. Is that possible? I know there are companies that simply sell a 36v battery for a golf cart but they're over $2000. This Redodo battery is just $179 on their website. It would be cost effective to put three of these together for my golf cart conversion from a lead acid battery. Any thoughts or help would be great. Thanks

If you can figure out which cells are used inside (pouch, prismatic, or cylindrical) even without a teardown (don't know how, maybe vendor would provide info) that would be great.
