Hobotech--I love 💕 the module idea 💡and like u said they should have made this in the larger ah…I would also like to see it in there new Little 100 ah battery even if it had to be a little taller…I did see a gentleman reviewing this battery burn up the module when using one port to charge his lap top and the other to charge his phone..He think 🤔 it burned up because he was using the laptop 💻 which was over the 30 way rating of the port while charging the phone too…Dr prepare said they would replace the module and would try to update there website manual about drawing to much power from the ports especially using laptops…

Looks like this battery is the one ( actually four would be best). Only problem is,,. It's difficult to save enough $$$ to get even one battery, these days. If I didn't have to spend $$$ on fuel for generator, I could put those $$$ toward the batteries and solar panels...connectors &,&,&,& I'm getting older, slower, weaker & dumber....too fast💩👀💩 Out in the woods being a watchman is where I'll be, until I graduate from this planet 🌎 Hobotech, you do great work here, helping us get things done correctly😎☕ . My vote is for NOT tearing the batteries open, as they are useful but,,,it's always fun taking things apart, just to see what makes work😁

What if they're B grade cells that are only performing well now? What if the bus bars are crap? What if it uses a known to fail BMS? These are all things Will has found in batteries.

I bought the ol' version of the Dr. Prepare100Ah battery and had problems with it charging. I contacted their support and they provided a no hassle replacement with free shipping. For me they sent replacement battery right a way. I'm very happy with Dr. Prepare support and battery. This looks like a better version of the battery with the additional power station. I would buy Dr. Prepare again.

This is one of my favorite reviews so far! I really appreciate that you took the time to provide chapters so I can go back to review particular parts. I never thought I'd have a use for a stand alone 12V battery, but this one is perfect. Not too heavy and it has a carry strap plus hardware to bolt it down for a semi-permanent install. I know a few people who really need this battery. I think this will be a huge seller! Please don't do tear downs. Much better to donate to those in need. As you said, they show what's inside on the website.

Professor Hobo, this really seems like a winner. In a comment, I requested more DIY builds in 2023 and I really think this is a solid start! It gives you 1) 100ah capacity and 2) ports to both charge and use the battery built-in for just a few dollars more. With your code you're only looking at $20-40 more than the cost of a comparable battery PLUS it has cold protection which is so rare in similarly priced batteries. Yes, you're missing an AC inverter but if you are like me and really would really just like a decent capacity "solar generator" to run a 12V fridge and charge standard devices, you start paying for features you don't plan to use or have to build something which would be hard to do for this price. Tear down isn't required IMO. Tear down is great for people more advanced in electronics to see the guts and components. I'd say for the majority of your audience, testing what the end user is getting for their money and noting pros and cons is an A+ system. Your reviews are the best on youtube for an end user IMO. Thank you!

I'd rather these units are used to help others or whatever use you have for them rather than destroying them to let us see what's inside. Great review. I just got my EB240 on Wednesday but sadly, the adapter brick (T200) isn't working so I can't charge but unit works fine. Got an email back asking to send a video of the problem and they will make sure I'm looked after. THAT is a good BMS! Not surprising when it's built by Renogy. Instead of relying on the thermal switch getting too warm and shutting things down, this BMS actually controls the amperage being drawn, protecting the cells from too high of a discharge rate. Does the BMS not turn the battery back on after a period of time? Most will and I would expect something from Renogy to be built with that feature. With that module on top, and considering what most folks use them for, this thing really is a mini power station. I won't be surprised if we see a few more models like this hitting the market. Very cool of you to help out your friend who lost everything in a fire. No need to tear the batteries down.

Nice review and am glad I took advantage on the first "Dr Prepare" review (2021). As far as the tearing apart all the batteries.. I'm at odds on doing this for a number of reasons. For safety reasons alone, I believe with LiPo Batteries that special containment and disposal would be a constant necessity. But I can understand that some would like to see the 'insides'. On the other hand your Altruistic nature and generosity has helped out those in need. My best suggestion would be to not tear them apart unless an overwhelming "scream" from the Peanut Gallery demands such because of; (insert reason here). That then could lean towards an inquisitive dismantlement of such device. ... And Happy Holidays Dude!

You don't have to tear them down. Your reviews are complete and educational and it's wasteful to destroy them when someone who really needs one can get one that's affordable. Other youtubers are out there who do that thoroughly and it's not really going to benefit the review for someone who's shopping for one. I'm renovating a little motorhome to move into after my spouse ran off and left me financially in a bind. I'd love to have a solar system for my little rig so that I don't have to plug up. Continue to do what your doing!

I say NAY on the teardown. No need to destroy a perfectly good product that could be helpful to someone that needs it. If you run out of people in need, then I say just randomly (no contest necessary) pick a person in your comments and offer the product to them if they pay the shipping cost. That way it only cost you a little time, and you can make someone's day. Just my thoughts. On another note, I think this battery is going to be a big hit with "Off Grid" outdoor people. What a convenient product with that power module idea. Have a Happy New Year, and God Bless.

Please do not destroy by opening them up. I like the fact that you are generous and pay them forward to people who need them; a humanitarian gesture. I have seen other channels that tear them apart. It was nice to see the parts but not necessary for me. Seeing the inside would not inflluence my decision to purchase in anyway. If I did not get what was promised, I would simply return it. The information you provide is more than sufficient. I would like to see you get more detailed about connection devices and shunts; how to connect them; some simply and basic 12 volt system. Product reviews on them would be great seeing how most people do not know how to use these devices correctly. Also KZbinrs rush videos; talk to fast to pump out videos. I have not seen who explain in detail. Start with one product then add one divice in next video. It would be fun and clear to the user. Because I am a big fan of your channel since the beginning, I would add this meaning no offense, your store is a big mess. I went to order something and it was so difficult I went elsewhere. It was ugly and needs a facelift. I am sure you would have a premier store. I am sharing this because this is my experience and the experience of my friends who have tried to find items. Excellent review, as always. Nice to see you starting to include low temp tests. I have noticed a significant form factor difference in these 100ah 12v batteries. During tear downs, I see that many have a bunch of empty space around the cells meaning that a lot of them are just using the same generic cases. I noticed that the SOK and the Power Queen Premium are much smaller form factor - 20-30% smaller. This is kind-of-a-really-big-deal. If I can fit 3 or 4 of the smaller form factors into the same space as 2-3 of the others, that is significant in my truck/van. Would be really nice to see more info on the form factors and comparisons since I see that as being a defining attribute and Power Queen specifically is trying to leverage it with their new model (although the SOK is very close in size).

Love the idea of using an Anderson extension cable and placing the module in a convenient location while having the battery out of the way in a van or suv on a camping trip and still have the option to use the module on the battery as a true portable 12v power source. With this type of portable flexibility and using LiPo4 cells the price seems very reasonable as well. Pick up a Lipo4 friendly AC charger where then you have the option of charging from the grid and/or generator power to go along with the ability of solar charging and not to mention this unit capacity wise is expandable capacity wise by adding in another battery in parallel and this has suddenly gotten very attractive both from a usability and cost position.

No need to tear down units but keep pushing the units to shut down automatically to test their safety. You could add a few non destructive stress tests like extremes of temperature, a tumble down a ramp, and a bouncy ride in a trailer to verify build quality. For Solar panels you could test tolerance to partial shade.

Definitely keep up the style you already do, giving them to a person in need or selling at discount is way better than tearing them apart. I do understand why people want to see the inside to make sure the quality is what it claims but enough channels destroy brand new stuff that could go to someone that needs it. If enough manufacturers get behind the idea you could almost do a starter set for people. Small inverter-battery-solar panel maybe?

I DON'T USUALLY COMMENT ON VIDEOS, I have watched you since the beginning when you were sitting next to water in your van waiting for somebody to send you another panel LOL . Your videos are very thorough and very informative this battery looks like a 12 volt solution for most people starting out at a good price with great features it's a shame it does not do More voltage than 12 in series and the BMS on this one looks very sensitive however it is very comparable to what used to be a very expensive battery by battleborn, and the low temp charging feature working is great cuz I live in a cold environment thanks for the good work keep it up we'll keep watching again I usually don't comment but I couldn't help myself on this one what a great battery for a beginner thank you keep the good videos coming

No, tear down isn't necessary. I enjoy watching Will tear things up but I really have no idea if what's inside is good or bad. As long as it's safe for electrical noobs like me is what I like to see. Seeing this one shut down when it's supposed to is very helpful.

Please don't tear down these batteries, there are plenty of other reviews that do this nonsense. Donate to those in need. Thank you for all you do for this community.

Thanks for this video! This unit is just what I need! I have been looking at a lot of potential options to upgrade from my 50aH AGM that's 6 years old as my Sienna camper. 'house' battery.

I don't need to see the inside of any battery, I think you do a good job testing them for us and I like that you give the battery away after.

The tight specs are not a downside, it delivers as promised which is what it is supposed to do. Not being able to put them in series is a bummer. But that’s due to the Output Module. At least we can still put them in parallel to get some real world output. Too many fuss over that low temp protection. It’s not a starter battery, so there is no reason why we would expose it to low temps like that. A insulated box has always been a better solution. The Output Module with its own 100 watt solar input is neat. That makes the battery perfect for off grid remote installation scenarios. Self contained system. I like it. The module might also make it harder to monitor battery capacity if you use standard connections and use the module. Where do you put your battery monitor? And will it account for two input/output sources? Like to see that tested and verified. That Module gives another interesting option: use a xt60 extension cable and mound it closer to where it’s needed or convenient. On second thought, that might truly be the best creative feature. The best feature might be those recessed bolts for hookup. Making the battery stackable gives new mounting and space options. This battery could be perfect as a external source for a solar generator to expand capacity. $399 is still a decent price, considering that the old Battleborn were $899. The discount would cover sales tax for my location. So if shipping is free, then $399 is the final price. A good deal. It’s not a home backup or off grid living design but still has very good use cases for smaller applications. 👍👍 Happy New Year Hobos

They can be put in parallel, not series.

@@HOBOTECH yes, I noticed my writing error, which makes my statement contradictory. We want them at least in parallel do we can draw real world power outlet energy. Let me fix that error real quick. Thank you Hobo.

I think we have passed the point of takedown’s. Have you noticed the past two years how the majority of the manufacturers have responded to fix the issues. Even to placing comments on your pages in responses they’ve fixed the problem. So I would suggest that you add a heat gun and use that for detection purposes. Tearing down not so much. But frankly it’s a possibility you’re going through a tear down by your discernment of what you’re seeing. Have a great weekend and Have a Happy New Year!

Sadly I think we all know that tearing them down will give ya more video views overall. Reason being it brings in an additional audience that's looking for that in addition to the testing you already do. Since I want you to be as successful as humanly possible on KZbin, I think drawing additional audience with tear down is a smart business move. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the great work my friend 👍
