4/29: Jackery told me after filming that they will still be out of stock on the Explorer 1000 for a while longer. Bluetti is still an option with the 1500wh at $1109. (link in description) If you're looking for the extension cords shown in the video you can find them here. Last entry in this section. hobotech.tv/amazon/#Solar-Adapters

Hey HOBO, just a quick note that using the cables you link to for extension of parallel between two rockpals doesn't work, as they're 2.1mm male output and do not fit on the parallel port female slot. They (www.amazon.com/dp/B07MYXMGHT) work great as extension to the output cable (2.5/2.1) but not for the parallel (2.5/2.5). Need an adapter, which I luckily had from a previous rockpals purchase.

@@MauroMarzorati Thanks for the heads up. I figured most would use the Rockpals 3ft cord into the extension which "should" fit. If not, I added an adapter on the site people can pickup.

Professor - I own the Jackery E500 and the Rockpal 160W parallel panel set. I live in Canada, and I can tell you it has been a real "job" to learn about the solar generators and panels available on the market. The only reason I am doing this is I have a Phillips Dreamstation CPAP machine for my obstructive sleep apnea. I found your channel about 3 weeks ago and have been watching everything pertinent that I could get my hands on. I wanted to thank you for reviewing the Jackery E500 and the Rockpal 160W solar panels/parallel set. I have found learning about electricity - Watts, Volts and Amps to be pretty confusing. I have gone back and forth with both of the above manufacturers regarding using the Rockpals with the Jackery E500. The worst part is that the customer service for both are by email. The Rockpal phone number does not even work in Canada. I asked Jackery why they can't ship the SolarSaga panels to Canada, and the response was that it was an Amazon restriction. Jackery says that the panels will overload the volts restrictions to the E500 by 6V and Rockpals say it will be fine. My initial question to Jackery was if the E500's input is 12V~30V(max) at 100W then the panels in parallel rated at 128W/ 3.5A~36V are 6V too high. Rockpals came back that the output Watts the panels produce are actually 80 - 96W, which is under the specs posted for the product. They said that each panel produces open-circuit voltage at 18V. My confusion I think was that I added 18V + 18V in series, which is incorrect because the panels are designed in parallel. Due to the parallel wiring the Voltage is 18V not 36V. That is were your video was so awesome! Because you addressed the fact that if you wanted you could rewire them into series to increase the voltage for the "Blue Eddie". :) I found comparable extension cables on amazon.ca to extend the parallel and input cables for the E500. I tried to get your cables, but they also do not ship to Canada. Thanks again - you're making a big difference for the new-bees! Bobbi Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada

Thanks for the reviews, it’s pretty much you and WP helping us amateurs out. Just an anecdotal story about my experience. I just got a bluetti ac100 and a buddy gave me one of these rockpals 80 panels. I was skeptical about it charging the bluetti with any kind of effectiveness based on this review. To my surprise when I hooked it up yesterday I was rockin 58 watts. I know this isn’t breaking any records for charging, but it was a nice surprise for this combo. I’ll see how it does on my camping trip this week but I’m hopeful. ✌🏽

Everybody knows that the panels, when really hot, lose some of their efficiency. I’ve found keeping them in the shade both keeps them cooler and also decreases efficiency, so it’s win win! No need to thank Doc G just now. Another good review, thanks 🙏🏻

I have always wanted to use foldable light weight solar panels. I have a Class B RV so weight and size are everything. But I cannot figure out how on earth they can stand up in a wind, and almost everywhere I go there is wind. Even my heavy Renogy suitcase has been blown over a few times, so I cannot imagine these light weight panels would ever really work very well. Great review as always! Interesting data about the different wattage from the two panels.

@@HOBOTECH Yeah...thx, that is the only thing i could think of. The problem is out in the desert or beach there is so much wind these soft cases would quickly wear out. I have had my large and heavy, but sturdy, Renogy suitcase now for 5 years. Even it got blown apart in the crazy Jalama winds and i had to install new hinges on it but it still works fine.

After watching your video I was able to acquire the Jackery 1000. Unfortunately my search for the Rockpal 80w panels was unsuccessful. Rockpal said they no longer make that panel. I was interested in the ability to set the panels up "in parallel" as you described. My solar knowledge is limited. Could you recommend an alternate "in parallel" Set of panels? Thank you! Also, enjoyed the Rawlins adventure.
@HOBOTECH

Unfortunately, the only two options were the Rockpals and Jackery for parallel out of the box. Now since your 1000 came with the 8mm parallel adapter it means you still can buy two panels with 8mm outputs and run them in parallel. The Rockpals 100w, Suaoki 100w, and Beaudens 100w on hobotech.tv/amazon/#Solar-Kits all come with that 8mm adapter.

Maybe it was a blessing. I would rethink that purchase. I made a $210 mistake on the 100 watt rockpals panel. Why buy something with low working voltage. You will be limited on what it will charge. I'm going to wait for the 120 watt bluetti to come out.

Tom ,I mean other RV technology's...for instance, I ditched my dead propane fridge and got a 12v/24v electric frig to replace the inefficient absorption frig...My propane now is used only for my stove and catalytic heater..my propane tanks lasts a lot longer now..its a great upgrade, its a Vitifrigo that are used on boats....

Hey Tom, another great video, but not a fan of Rockpals. Jackery panels are better build quality, at least the 60 watt solar saga. Hopefully, Jackery will send us the parallel cable soon.

Wow just these panels can be wired parallel 😂😂😂 what a great solution. And if you don't use these crap DC5521 or Sae etc connectors (which suck anyway) you can build your cables very quick. Bevor i use this type (maybe just used in america) of connectors i will take a wago connector instead. That's not professional but works 100x better. MC4, XT60, Anderson every other connector is better than these little tiny crapy DC connectors. Btw the 3ft cables are 😂😂 ridiculous 👍👍🤣

I managed to watch 9 seconds of this video. It's that long since I had to grab the mouse first to stop the video. What a terrible, disgusting way to start a video. So typical American. These people are so full of them selves, it is as if they live in a parallel universe. They are not from this earth. Thumbs down. I just wish I could give a 100 of them, but unfortunately I can't.

I was wondering why nobody has ever been able to say how long that a single battery on solar system will last before it's dead say like running TV and phone charger and the 2 lights that come with the kit from harbor freight
@HOBOTECH

Because it depends on the battery, TV, and lights you're running. There is a simple formula you can use and there are calculators online for this.
