The best goalie ever and what a speech. His play in the 98 olympics inspired me to play goalie. I even cheered against Russia because his performance deserved gold.

This man won many Vezina trophies, MVP trophies, and two Stanley Cups. I don’t believe in watching hockey that I have seen a better goalie than Dominik Hasek; Patrick Roy, Eddie Belfour, and Martin Brodeur are great goalies too.

+kyleen nicole kline Roy was my idol as a kid until Hasek came to Buffalo. I live in Western NY so I got to see him play in person and on television night after night. Roy was amazing and I still love him. Brodeur could be called the best just for his longevity as a premiere goaltender in the premiere league, but Hasek was better than either by a longshot during his prime in Buffalo. Its not even close. No one could stop pucks like that dude. He was fucking Gumby in a Sabres uniform. The fact that his style was so strange and could not be imitated tells me he truly was and is one of a kind the likes of which will never be seen again. There will be great butterfly goalies like Roy again. You can teach that, you can even master it like #33 but you can't teach whatever it was Hasek did. God, we miss him here in Buffalo.
