I'll never forget that winning 60 foot cannon blast slapshot in OT against the St. Louis Blues after stealing the puck from Gretzky. As a Detroit native, this guy was a truly beloved player and we loved having him as a Red Wing.

155 points in 88/89. More points than anybody but Mario and Wayne. Youngest, and the longest serving captain in the history of the NHL. There is nobody that doesn't love Steve. Legend.

He may not hold the most records or the highest records but there is no one who is a better person or player or captain than Stevie Y. He is and always will be the best in my book.

I am a lifelong Bruins fan and it would be so typical of someone like myself to sit here and say "Yzerman was a great captain, but Ray Bourque was better", but let's be honest, this guy is in a class by himself. I yearn for the players of the mid-80s to late 90s

Sakic was so classy that prior to the wings/avs series in 02' when asked about again playing against the opposing #19 he responded "who's that?". As a wings fan, I always respected him as a player, he had one of the 5 best wrist shot's ever, but he not in the same class as Yzerman.
