Switching Slaf for Evans in the turd was the coaching we were hoping for. Behind 1-0 against a team that’s rolling its top line out to get the lead and we want to tie it let’s put a defensive forward out who’s been giving us goals and assists lately. I think that’s an underrated move by MSL. I’ve been critical of him just rolling lines and following management’s strategy to develop players over winning. Now that “the mix” looks like it’s possible, maybe MSL has been given the green light to win

Let’s see what the rest of the season holds, but if the boys could steal a playoff spot and get just one series of experience it would be extremely valuable for this young team.

He was so much better in this game than versus the Panthers. I found his positioning suspect on too many occasions against Florida and, frankly, not surprising as it takes time to adjust to the speed of NHL versus AHL. His rebound control has looked better than too many times I've seen in Laval. I've been intrigued to see him at this level for some time and there's definitely potential there. I would bet money with some more time, he'll exceed Monty by the end of the year. That said, it's also a two game sample. I've seen casuals calling him the "future". There's lots of things to like and his ceiling is high enough to see a potential number one there... But, don't get all excited. Same guys singing his praises will be the same ones calling him trash when he has a stinker.

That Caufield goal is the literal definition of a give, and GO! I absolutely LOVE the way that entire goal played out. EVANS shoulda got TWO assists on that one for back checking and saving Hutson's ass, then Lane redeems himself with a nice back pass to Cole in the neutral zone who "gives" to his man Nick, and then the best part of the whole play is watching Caufield get on his horse and dart to the net where he makes NO mistake! LOVE IT! And what can you say about Jakub Dobeš at this point?! Turns into a damn BRICK WALL for the last 5 minutes, overtime, and the shootout! 2 GP, 0.45 GAA, .952 SV% IF they keep playing him versus top teams he's gonna steal the damn CALDER! LOL OK, OK.
