As a Rocket season ticket holder, I’ve been saying this for months: This kid is special. He’s a good goalie for sure, but he has a personality, a natural leader and most importantly: he inspires confidence. A thing we, both the fans and the team on the ice, never got with Primeau. He’s not that kind of "laser focused goalie" like Monty. He’s an emotional player. He yells, he fights, he chirps, and his confidence is contagious. I’m proud of him, he deserves the best.

Feel just a little bad for Primeau...he arrived with too much hype - was supposed to be the next Price. I don't think this will happen to Dobes. You've noted some of the reasons why. I hope he even adopts some of the Hasek moves (which would likely raise the ire of his goalie coach, if not MSL). Certainly a modified version of the Hasek 'aggression' and improvisation to stop the biscuit from going into the basket - the athleticism appears to be part of his makeup. Would love to see at least an occasional, old school '2 pad stack' to make a spectacular save, if nothing else. From what I've seen of his technique and sharpness in his first 2 starts (e.g. notice how mindful he is with keeping the stick blade on the ice when he should) he has the potential to be an exceptional goalie, even Vezina worthy with experience/development. The team needs to do a better job at not pursuing breakaway opp. into Dobes...opponents are going to be running our potentially great goalie on their own. Already has happened too many times...will blow out a knee just like Price did.

Habs are playing above their weight class currently, and I’m here for it! Not gunna let the past 10 get me carried away, but looks like Laine has helped this team. More heart, or less mental I dunno, but the boys look a tad sharper. A half second behind the play is enough to make a team look terrible, and seems like the recent Habs have caught up with the tempo a little more.

Dobes looked real sharp and Dach's line finally produced results. Also, our defense was solid this game. We gave 34 shots, but fewer good opportunities than we normally do. All in all, one of the best games of the season for the Habs.

This was an important win and not just because it was against the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Dobes showed he's a viable option as backup and Dach and Newy got on the board and had a solid game. The Habs need that second line playing decent hockey as much as they need a decent back up and maybe we have both now. When I first started following you your likes were in the 100s and now they're in the 1000s. Keep up the good work!

I am super happy to see this young goaltender come up and meet with success in this opening game. It was real high class that Brendan Gallagher went straight to the opposite end of the rink to get the game puck at the final buzzer. I hope Dobes continues to do well and it’s a wonderful thing to imagine having a 23-year-old who can be a reliable back up in the NHL.

if he's not ready now, he may never be. primeau's been around for quite a while, and there's no reason he shouldn't have caught on by now. he's been the justin barron of goaltenders. this year was primeau's big shot, he would show us exactly what kind of goalie he was and what we can expect from his future. well, he has, in all the worst ways. he's played himself out of our future plans, and perhaps even our present ones. it's just not going to happen here.

@@HockeyJunkie I am very happy for the kid. I believe in him, he is a good goalie and he could become a really good Starter one day. For now he will help Monty get some rest when he needs it and will push him to keep playing well too. The Habs have a legit chance at a playoff spot if they keep it up and even make a few good moves at the deadline. The season is getting more interesting every day.
