@@stefanmakara373 I think you are right in that she did want them to grow up to be happy and to be decent people. But in order for them to grow up happy you have to prioritise your children's mental and emotional well being, and unfortunately Bree didn't do that. In fact there were many instances (especially in the earlier series) where she openly stated she was more concerned about maintaining a perfect outward appearance than the emotional well being of her family. Being raised in a household where everything looks nice but nobody is allowed talk about their feelings is a form of emotional suffocation and goes some way to explaining why Andrew, Danielle and even Rex grew to resent her. Thankfully over time she became less emotionally repressed and more accepting, but only because the complete breakdown of her family relationships forced her to.

From the grandparents' perspective, they logically should have questioned whether or not Bree had intentionally planted the items among Andrew's things just to sabotage their plan. Andrew is a horrible son! How is it that Bree is the perfect mom and wife and homemaker and has such a petulantly ungrateful family?
@soundseeker634 жыл бұрын
Bree may have been a perfect homemaker but she was not a perfect wife/mother. There were many instances where Bree admitted she cared more about maintaining their image as the perfect household than the emotional well being of her family. That is NOT good parenting. Andrew's rebellious personality (and to some extent Danielle too), was the result of living with such an inflexible and emotionally repressed parent. Plus Andrew had a lot or anger towards Bree because her affair with George being what lead to the death of his father... and her disapproval of him being gay obviously hurt him. Their relationship is complex, and later in the series, when she comes to accept Andrew for who he is, they reconcile and have a good relationship once again. Andrew's behavior was at times horrible but he was not a "horrible son", I think all he really wanted was for Bree to truly accept him for who he was, not who she wanted him to be. The same was true for Danielle.

Bree was right in this scene. She knew her parents were way more homophobic and not willing to change their minds, so she had to stop Andrew from moving out with them to prevent the same fate as Justin (getting kicked out when they found out Andrew is gay). Plus in the end, she invited Justin over for dinner to show Andrew that she changed for the better, she accepted her son.

@@dzunglong4034 In this stage she hasn’t changed. She’s still the uptight woman who is an alcoholic. it’s the first steps the beginning of Bree trying to accept Andrew as he is.
