I cannot express how much I like how humble and down to earth Keegan Allen is. He swims with his vintage Rolex. He got into watches through a quartz Mickey mouse watch and he is happy wearing quartz watches as well as mechanicals. Very genuine. He enjoys it based off of his views alone and doesnt seem to care what others think.

Great episode. I have no idea who this guy is since I haven't seen his show, but it was cool to see how enthusiastic and excited he is about watches. Most, probably because of age, are more reflective when discussing watches, it's a cliche but this was full of youthful exuberance which was really pleasant to see.

I love Talking Watches! Isn't it interesting that many collectors fathers were essentially one watch warriors? I love seeing these worn out watches that older generations put through the paces, using them as a daily tool and not swapping through watches weekly (or sometimes multiple times a day in many of our cases). The watch captures so much more soul since it was there through everything, not just a number in a massive collection.

Don't know about anyone else, but I was glad to see the Heuer 2000 mentioned in a TW episode! Certainly never expected it. I have a 1989 Super 2000, and it's the watch I reach for by default when I get up every day. I love it despite its slightly awkward and clunky late-80s design, and for its Lemania chonograph movement, and - most importantly, to me - was given to me by my dad.

Love how Keegan phrases his “reminder to not take himself too seriously” for his Mickey Mouse watch in the exact same way Dan Brown describes Robert Langdon and why he wears the same Mickey Mouse watch in every one of his books since Angels and Demons in 2000.. coincidence?

Unintentional plagiarism is my guess - he must have read it 15 years ago and thought he came up with it somewhere along the way. But yes almost line for line what Dan Brown wrote.

"I got into watches in a really unconventional way." - Talks about being influenced by family. Yeah just like most people. Not unconventional. Just a usual backstory. Love this guy's enthusiasm though. Enjoyed this chill and fun interview. Also the way he talks is a little similar to John Mayer. I don't know if he was influenced or just coincidentally. No problem with that. Just noticed.

I understand but remember TW is about the stories of the watches too. I mean a 1680 is not a hard watch to find but the story of his dad was cool to hear. If you just want to look at rare pieces just check out Phillips or Christie's auctions catalogs and you will find some pieces that you haven't seen before. Having said that, I really hope they do Episode II of Goldberger, Paramico and others that sure bring HEAT.
@Cinemallennials6 жыл бұрын
I know, but when everyone has the same watch/brand, it gets uninteresting
@memovox42186 жыл бұрын
You can have it both ways. Rare/obscure watches with interesting stories. Episodes that feature passionate collectors with specific tastes such as Goldberger, Paramico, Maleh, and Madhvani are the best in the series. Guests who aren't as knowledgable or experienced like this guy are interesting too, but it doesn't compare.

BRAVO ! grossly overrated sick and tired of Rolex there is far better out their with out the stupid prices how do i know i own them !! A great watch gets its value from the workmanship and the various complications, not a bunch of blingy novelty to make them attractive to tasteless rappers, sports personalities et,c. A watch is not meant to be ostentatious, they are meant to be cherished by ladies and gentlemen of good taste. They are not billboards for screaming "LOOK AT ME !" when I was a teenager my mother bought me a Rolex explorer it went back to Rolex many times as it's time keeping was awful they never did get it to work properly there are a wealth of stunning hand crafted watches out there I own many of them and the prices are sensible the other thing is I would not want a watch that was worn by the majority of brain dead footballers who just follow the herd with the degenerate bad taste

I thought I was weird with my clock obsession since a young age (still have my first watch though it doesn't tick anymore) and I find all these other crazy dudes that just loves watches and appreciate the engineering, passion and knowledge that are put in to these timekeepers. Apparantely a lot of plp had the clock interest before they had the financial means to realize their clock fantasies and it is just not a way of flashing their wealth. I myself can not yet afford the clock(s) on my list but I will get there.

Alvaro Perez . Yes, He probably got it from the movie. This Tinseltown man-teen doesn't come across as a character who actually read books. -Other than his own Hollywood Hills fotobook. His alleged poetry, which I never have or will read, can only be recycled/stolen banalities.

Keegan . Your Assumptions about my knowledge in certain areas will get you nowhere. You've been caught red-handed in stealing an anecdote from a novel. Any level headed person would wonder what else you copy? -But would immediately come to the conclusion that you are just another Hollywood product. Thanks for the link, but no thanks.
@keeoone876 жыл бұрын
tons834848 as will your assumptions get you right where you are. I have not gotten where I am by allowing people like you. I feel for you, truly. I am sorry you couldn’t enjoy the episode. Nothing was stolen, it was a part of my life. Perhaps, my uncle had brought that watch mentality into his life from this novel you speak of, or it was a happy coincidence. Either way, talking watches has always been a place that I enjoyed coming to find others who felt as I did about appreciation for all timepieces. You have painted some pretty outlandish assumptions about my life that you clearly don’t know, but you care enough to comment AND continue. I hope you find great successes in your journey through life and you don’t continue to hold onto such resentments. You don’t wear it well... but anyway, all the best.
