Hogue Deka - Full Review - don't get your HOGUES up

The Hogue Deka (gen 2) has very impressive pedigrees. For $130 you can get 20cv blade steel in an ABLE lock (axis lock) thick G10 construction. Fast action and pleasing aesthetics. The cutting performance for this blade style (warncliffe) excels at most general to light edc tasks. So why do I hate it?

My gen 2 Deka has been great. Came razor sharp and touches back up pretty good. It's a better quality bugout for less money 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Did you try heating up the thumbstubs to make it easier to unscrew them? Thats what ive always heard was best for loctite. Seems like an odd reason to not like a knife. USA made and a great price. I love all of my Hogues

Soldering iron + quality torx bits are a must for my tools. Learned that the hard way unfortunately. It works well for blue loctite and also the recess in the screw head helps concentrate the heat. Red loctite is like mild super glue and after 30 seconds of contact, which is very hot btw, I figured I was now about to ruin the heat treat so I got some pliers and went to town lol. I really want the SMKW sub zero in magnacut. They sold out pretty quick today. Thanks for watching brotha 👍🏻😎

So after watching your video - which knife do you find yourself carrying the most or enjoy carrying the most. Im looking for a new knife to carry for sub $200 - really want a warncliff type blade - suggestions?

Lately it’s kinda been based on what’s best for the channel. I won’t do a knife review unless I’ve carried, cut, and disassembled it. Takes a week or two but I like to be thorough. All that aside I tend to grab my Spyderco Kapara or Pm2. $200 and under, there are a TON of solid choices. Okay, so hogue just released this exact knife but in magnacut blade steel with a black dlc or cerakote finish. SMKW sub zero. But to be honest, this is a very very good option either in the magnacut or this exact model. Me personally though. I would find a pm2 warncliffe cause I’m spyderco fanboy lol. And it’s a pm2 and you can never go wrong with those imo. Thanks for watching! If you have any suggestions for knives to review lmk!

Hogue Deka 2, 20cv. I've had it for a week. Fantastic knife. Great action and build quality. Sharpest factory edge I've ever purchased. (and I have a ZT452, 940-1, WE Subjugator, Ultratech m390) Thumbstuds are a bit abrasive. If you want a wharnie, get this, you won't be disappointed.

It’s so funny how many good things you said about it but it’s just, “meh”. I just ordered the SMKW version “subzero” in magnacut. Maybe you just need something with more flare? I wish glow rhino would offer tritium too for the lock bar stud since it is similar to the benchmade axis lock like you said.

There is a strong argument that SMKW exclusive is the best version of the Deka since its the only why to get the knife with G10 and magnacut.

Thanks for the tip! I typically use a soldering iron for red and blue loctite. But with the thumb studs being right on the blade I didn’t want to botch the heat treat. ❤️👍🏻👊🏻

Ergos suck and scales are too thick for blade stock. But..it is very well made great materials and a wicked smooth "axis " lock. Bur just wasn't for me ..oh and they come stuuuupid sharp. For the price with 20cv it's a bargain
