@@mostfire8764 It’s probably gonna be scripted for Ethiopia to lose if you play on historical. The war is still fairly easy for the Italians to win since winning as Ethiopia can only really happen with player input. A successful Ethiopia run is really intended as more of a challenge.

Holding the hills slightly further east of your southern line forces the Italians to stand in desert and gives you a good angle to attack the center tile from, which you can then use to encircle the units on the northern tile and inflict massive casualties and chaos on the Italians in Somalia. Also it will provoke them to attack slightly more often, which is a boon for the general you picked since he gets the Scavenger trait from a Focus. Add that to the Logistics Spirit you can get for free and Scavenging Tactics and unless you're very unlucky in real life you'll be gaining guns every time the Italians fail to take your tiles. I also don't bother training new units with my strategy because you have enough to pull it off by bringing the one commander out of retirement. I instead stall to get the extra research stuff while keeping things primed for ~1938 when I start doing the Focuses that improve the Mekwanint's control, because in the early stage of the war you want the Mesafint's defense bonus more. Edit: I also stack debuffs to enemy air with leaders like Empress Asfaw because, y'know. You have no possible way to not fight under red air.

Such a treat, as always. I'd love to see you continue this playthrough (go for Jamaica, of course!) I couple of things I noticed as I tried my hand at this. imru Haile Selassie, the original Infantry Specialist, levels up really fast and is really godlike. Also, by the late 1936, as Italians run out of steam, you can put pretty much any General in the Northern mountains to level up. Put your Hill Fighter there and he gets Adaptable in no time. Wouldn't it be better to use him as a Field Marshal? He'a Adaptable and a Logistic Wizard, what's not to love?

From my Ethiopia play through, if you hold Macalle, then Italy won’t annex Aussa. This allows you to hold the line with only 2 tiles on the front.
