The Armada thing is crap, most of the Armada returned home safely and it rebuilt and strengthened in 2 years. Just another British bs story.

Yeah calling it the "Sinking of the Spanish Armada" is excessive and it probably has been overplayed as a sort of national pride thing, but it still was quite a significant strategic victory from a Dutch/English perspective.

@@DShakey I mean, not really, the losses for the Spanish were minimal and were done mostly by the weather. In 2 years the Armada had been rebuilt and even strengthened. Not to mention that the English built a bigger Armada and did an invasion in 1589 just a year later, in which they proceeded to lose more ships than the Spanish did. Also the actual war was won by the Spanish, so idk if it was really significant. It had been painted as significant that's for sure.

No yeah I completely agree with you. Too many people think 1588 is when the British Navy magically became the most powerful in the world after a mild Spanish defeat. The only reason I call it significant is because it was a failure for the then premiere naval power. But yeah, even after that they still were the #1 naval power. They only lost like 5 ships iirc
