There was me thinking that the pipe box had to be sliced open to replace the pipes. Great to see your much cleaner approach. Tks again for great instructions.

Sometimes you need to cut the pipe, but only if the rust is so bad that the pipe won't come out or it breaks off inside. It just depends on the car's condition. There was always talk that the tunnel was part of the structural integrity of the car, but I really don't know if that's true or not. So I try to avoid cutting if I can.

Good job mate. I used to wonder back in the day about replacing those pipes with long lengths of high temperature reinforced hose…… and thereby sort of alleviate the rust and access issue there’s a lot of hose available from the dairy and food production industries that would do the job……..

I have seen rubber hoses used and I think older Ferraris used this method. The problem is it's not rigid enough to put down the tunnel. The steel works fine as long as there is always coolant with corrosion inhibitor in the mix.

@@x19australia Yes I had it all worked out at the time and I thought about the difficulty of passing a flexible hose down the tunnel And I was going to gaffer tape some thin rope to the end of the hose pass that through first as a feeder using something like an electricians wall strap Then pull the rope through from the other end which in turn would pull through the hose Never got around to it ………..!!!!

Definitely better with your own actual voice rather than AI. Is there any reason you didn’t redo the pipes in stainless steel? I did mine that way a it wasn’t much more expensive.

These pipes were already made, so it was an easy solution just to buy them rather than find someone to bend stainless pipes for me. The steel ones will last as long as they are looked after. Often, no coolant without corrosion inhibitor is the reason these rust.

Where do you even get these parts from Mark? Great video by the way.

I bought the pipes and hoses from Fiatorque.com.au. They had the jig to make the pipes, and they’re making some for somebody else, so I said make me some as well, please. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos.
