Thank you Mark for mentioning that two fans are not needed!

I live in a hot climate and own ten X1/9s. Some are modified, yet none overheat with one fan installed. Even on a hot track day, it still won't overheat. When I see two fans installed, this tells me the cooling system is broken, and the engine could also now be damaged. On the positive side, It's excellent when buying an X1/9. The seller basically advertises that the car has cooling problems without needing to say a word.

Good job mate, I can remember on my 1977 X1/9 the radiator itself had a slight twist in it but the core was all copper and I’m told that’s how they came from the factory and I never had an issue with it I think I had it rodded out once and pressure tested and it was fine and it would’ve been 20 years old by then…… Back, then I did have fantasies of changing the coolant pipes running down the length of the car with maybe a galvanised exhaust steel or something or even plastic, but I never got to that ….. That was before KZbin, so I’m sure these days people have instructions and have developed a method. I’m guessing they drill out a-few spot welds or something

Changing those pipes is still a horrible job to do.

@@x19australia I wonder if the dairy industry or the pharmaceutical industry has got high temperature, high-pressure nylon hose, and you cut the pipes slide them out slide hoses in there I noticed that at the very front of the pipes where they bend up into the frame they always got dented on speed bumps etc so you need something somewhat malleable plastic would shatter

@@thewholls7176 I have had an X1/9 with a rubber type of hose instead. They did this on the Ferrari Dino I think. Someone else I know did this recently as well but not sure what they used.

I went aluminum $$$ this hard to watch. You don’t cheap out so that had to suck. That recondition rad will probably last forever 👍 🇨🇦

I just seem to have repeated bad experience with aluminium radiators. The re-core radiators do work very well and seem to last 10+ years
