I ended up using the MX1 as a daily trainer and it worked great for everyday running but I think the Mach 6 could do the exact same job for less

Great review Matt. I would’ve picked up V2 however it’s the same heel design as the Hoka Cielo Road and it digs into my heel and causes a bloody mess.

The Mach X1 felt like a 0mm drop shoe, mainly because i suffered with it's lack of medial heel support and it caused me to over pronate. I also struggled with longer easier distances. I found it more suitable for short fast intervals but i already had a prefered interval shoe (magic speed 4) so it didn't get used that much. I've measured the heel and forefoot on the medial side and the midsole stack is the same indicating a 0mm drop so i confirm this is probably quite unstable if you pronate more than average. On the lateral side i get 6mm drop.

I wore thru the heel quickly also with the Mach X2 but use shoe goo routinely to prolong the life. I hate the heel counter, I need a shoe horn to put the shoes on. I agree that the X2 has a lot more versatility as a trainer.

I was a victim of the heel of death on the X2. I gave up trying to make it work after about 20 miles and in that time I was already wearing the outsole down to the midsole on the lateral heel area. So it’s definitely got some design flaws that overshadowed the performance.

Im actually pretty hard on shoes as well and have noticed significantly more wear to on my Mach X 2s in comparison to my Adios Pro 3s and PX2S. Both latter having just over 100 miles and my mach x being right at 80.

Running is fun but 190$ per 100 miles is kinda wild. For the consumers, Glycerin Max seems like one of the best deals for 2024 as everyone is rating its durability very highly. Granted, its not the same but it'd at least last you a few months instead of having a "monthly subscription" for a pair of shoes.

@@3ildcard I am over 100 miles now on my MX2s and they've still got plenty of life left. I fully expect for them to last at least 300 maybe even 400 miles.

How do you manage to scuff (rip) the outsoles off so easily? Seems like that would be a strong braking force too.

Soon Hoka will launch version 3... with an improved heel counter.

I wish I had a super heel that could withstand shoes like that. 😅

Was definitely considering the Mach x2 but that durability seems awful? I haven’t seen mention of this elsewhere,Is this a widespread issue that I’m just unaware of?

@@SwolePapi15 I (Matt) try to get higher miles on these shoes before reviewing. It is something we really try to do at DOR. I’m also really hard on shoes, so get a much better sense of durability.

I have 119 miles on my pair which has consisted mostly of faster workouts on the road and have zero wear on the outsole. Unless you've experienced wear like this in other shoes (which the reviewer here has), I wouldn't be concerned.

I have about 150 miles on my Mach X2 and have very little wear on the rear tread. My fav shoe from Hoka along with the Cielo X1 which I use as a long run trainer.

190$ per 50-100 miles...? Man, flights are cheaper let alone "walking around" with your car/truck.
