Always the best moment when Jen asks a question, Holden cannot tell her, and then Jen rolls her eyes in frustration - never gets old for me - lol!
@glennwelsh9784 Жыл бұрын
He doesn't wanna spoil things that the movie will tell her, which is appreciated. I had a friend who did what Jen does but worse. Whenever we'd watch movies together, he'd ask me nearly every five minutes "Who are they?" "Where are they going?" "Why did they do that"? It's like he was expecting me to be his personal narrator rather than just letting the movie tell him what he wants to know. Then he'd stop the movie multiple times so he could go outside for a smoke and take phone calls. It would take a whole night to watch a single movie because of how many times he'd disrupt it, and it got so frustrating that I had to stop watching movies with him.

One of the best Sci-Fi movies ever. My favorite part is right before Arnold crashes into the police station, his head moves so he can look at the whole window. Since he is a machine, he is scanning it to see how much force is needed to quickly break through. Such a great little detail. This is also the first R-rated movie I ever saw.

Arnold really tried with this film. From what I've heard/read, he decided that as a machine, his movements would be less intuitive and more by necessity, so when he's looking around, his eyes are the first to move, and he only moves his head once the range of motion of his eyes is exhausted and he needs to adjust more of his form in order to see his target. I'm explaining this poorly, but hopefully that makes sense.

Unpopular opinion: Salvation is my favorite of the terminator movies because of T-1 SPOILERS BELOW Salvation is my favorite because of how faithful it is to T-1. The world that Kyle describes in T-1 is the one that we get in salvation. Human internment camps and such. People didnt like it for one because they thought there were plot holes in the movie (why did they have internment camps when they just wanted to kill humans, why dont they just send one of the giant robots back in time to kill sarah or john.) We learn IN THE FIRST MOVIE two things. Skynet has internment camps and only living things can travel back in time. Salvation takes it one step further and EXPLAINS why they have interment camps with an entire subplot of the movie. Only living things can go back in time. So they make Marcus a prototype "living machine" to see how they can make living machines. Remember where the internment camps are located? At a factory. They turn humans into terminators or at least harvest them for it. They were trying to get Kyle and not kill him in that movie to turn him into a terminator and send him back in time. There are also so many callbacks to T-1. In the beginning of T-1 Kyle ties a string to a shotgun. Salvation shows us Marcus taught him that. John also has the picture that Sarah had taken of her in the end of T-1 and so many others. T-2 is the most popular and is actually watched more than T-1 but Salvation is soooo faithful to the original you just have to love it compared to all the other sequels after T-2 So many people complained about things in Salvation that are explained in the first movie. I love T-2 but I wish more people saw T-1 because it really makes Salvation just so much better

Electrical engineer here. I used to think that too, but electric current should take the path of least resistance (literally), and everything else around Sarah is all metal, including the lower plate of the hydraulic press, the safety cage door, and seemingly the ground she's on, so she's not a very good conductive path. The definitive 3rd best Terminator aside from the first 2 for me is actually the TV show Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles starring Lena Heady. The show expands on the Terminator universe so well and the show is pretty well written. It's not a long show so it's only 2 seasons. I used to love the extended version. But for some reason, as I've gotten older, I've begun actually preferring the theatrical version more. Which I didn't expect. Nor am I 100% sure why...other than the extended version scenes feel laggy and like they bog the movie down whereas the theatrical is tight as a drum. I like the alternate cuts/segues into other scenes better in the theatrical. I've turned around on Aliens in almost the exact same way. I'd get more into the nature of why certain of those extended scenes don't work the same for me anymore but Jen could read this and I'd hate to spoil any of T2 for her. I'm not knocking the extended. I just find the Aliens and T2 theatrical cuts move and feel better to me now. But I still prefer the longer versions of The Abyss and the Lord of the Rings movies. Go figure lol..

@@davidsavage5630 I will stand by my opinion and no one will convince me that the Extended version of Terminator 2 is the best and will always be like this! I have never liked the theatrical versions of films, in the extended director's versions of films everything is correctly shown as it should have been! And I'm old enough, I'm 35 years old, and as a child I watched the extended version of T2 and I liked everything the same way now.

Great reaction as always. As far as the sequels go, T2 is an absolute must. After that, I do recommend Terminator: Salvation as an underrated piece of the franchise. It has some of the elements from the original that are woven in greatly. The rest? Skip.

Totally agree about Salvation, but probably also need to do T3 just for continuities sake. It's an okay movie and it does provide a key piece of John's story.

James Cameron learned how to use stop motion for this movie from the great Ray Harryhausen probably. Many of the great film makers of the 80s and 90s learned effects from him. You should watch some of Ray’s old movies like his three Sinbad movies, Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans.

I would love to see you guys react to the other sequels as they all offer something different. T3 has a lot of similar beats as the first 2 but the ending makes it stand out for me. Salvation actually shows us the war from the future and it's a great post-apocalypse story. Genesys tried to "reboot" things and the end results might not be great but it has a lot of great callbacks to earlier films. Dark Fate I actually find refreshing, it steps away from the main story we're used to and the Terminator is the most menacing one since T2
@Teamrat Жыл бұрын
Salvation is the worst of the bunch imo but I would still watch it if they reacted to it. That being said, I hope they watch the other sequels because I liked them.

I think there was a prime timeline where there was no terminator in 1984 and she got pregnant with a guy from 1984 and their son grew up to lead the resistance. But when the terminator and Reese came back, they altered things creating an alternate 1984 with Reese as the father of a different version of John. This created a time loop where the new John sent his own father back to protect his mum.
@Smido83 Жыл бұрын
Nah, it a "normal time paradox" in my opinion. In this franchise timetravel works different to the MCU. It works like Back to the Future. Means there is only one timeline. So John was allways this John. He knew Reese was his father from day one. Hence why he gave him the picture, cause he knew that this picture will make him fall in love with his mother. He just could never tell him, so that the story can happen exactly how his mother told him...
@povenmire207 Жыл бұрын
@@Smido83 Funny you mention Back To The Future. Cos in Part 2 there was an alternate timeline in 1985 and in Part 1 there were 2 timelines. The twin pine mall timeline and the lone pine mall timelime. So even Back To The Future had a prime timeline that got erased for an alternate timeline
@wargh12 Жыл бұрын
@@Smido83 Yeah I agree that there is only one timeline with a loop but it is exactly opposite to how it was in back to the future. It's like 12 monkeys or Dark tv show i.e you can't change the past, and whatever you trying to do you think is going to change the past, is already a part of the past.
@Smido83 Жыл бұрын
@@povenmire207 No, there is only one timeline. That timeline was just changed forever. Hence why Marty wouldve been erased forever if his parents didnt meet. And his original timeline was changed, hence why his father was a published author, his mother wasnt a drunk and so on when he came back. There is no other timeline. Everything Marty did in the past changed the future of the one timeline. Same as here in Terminator. Marvel explained timetravel differently. Every change to the past creates a NEW timeline, means there are infinate variations of every character. Hence why changing the past wouldnt change the future they are in after Infinity war. In the T2 or BttF theory of timetravel, killing Thanos in the past (like Rody sugested) would mean the snap never happened. Like killing Sarah in the past would prevent John from becoming the resistant leader, or Martys parents never kissing would prevent him from being born.
@Smido83 Жыл бұрын
@@wargh12 Only if you count any movie after T2... and I dont! There are only 2 Terminator movies. And the End of T2 (the one Cameron put in afterwards) shows that there is no loop. The future is changed forever.
