@Charmlie.R2 жыл бұрын
This is true of most creatures with defense mechanisms like this, even if they are formidable hunters they have nearly 0 chance of winning a standoff with you. If they get pissy and bite, as much as we tend to be jumpy, we have the opportunity to just crush them with very little effort. We are huge, their bite will be a pain and small setback but our strikes will destroy them. Thats why most creatures like this, wasps or spiders or what have you, tend to only strike when they are very afraid for themselves. They dont want to bite your toes, because you'll just step on them. But if they already think you are stepping on them, they don't have a choice. Thats also why you'll see lots of deterrents like the hairs, things that say 'i dont want to hurt you, because i think I'll be in trouble, but I really dont want to risk you messing with me' Bites and deterrents like this work because inconveniences matter to bigger things. If we have nothing to gain, even if we will be 100% fine, we dont want to get stung by a bee. We'll forget about it in a day or two and yet we regularly find people absolutely terrified to be bitten or stung haha.

@no_0riginality9374 жыл бұрын
@@ZenDaSynth Honestly same but I wonder why do people shit themselves when they see a spider...is it an evolutionary thing or are we just pussies(no offense) spiders may look scary but most of them are barely the size of a hand outside of the Bird-eater and most tarantulas plus they have no intention of biting and they are more scared of us...think about it we are giants and we can end their lives with a single smack so I wonder? 🤔🤔

@@no_0riginality937 it’s been discovered humans find that the less human looking an animal or thing is the less relatable and potentially the more terrifying it is to our brains but something that’s in the uncanny valley of close to human but not quite is worse, so essentially spiders don’t look human at all and meet most of the biological red flags our brains have for fear but yeah spiders aren’t really that big of a threat in the grand scheme of things

GBS's are typically very docile, possibly one of the most docile tarantulas in the world. I used to own one and it was very friendly. You made it sound like you'd be in great trouble if you got bitten. Chances are, if it's not a dry bite, you'll get over it pretty easily anyway.

Yeah but he didn't. That's not how a spider is choosing it's options. Poor thing first thought she was in danger (hair kicking) and then turned to "meh, wtf is this?". Trust is something far far away from the capabilities of the arachnid organism. But still nice to see a wild Goliath

In almost every documentary about spiders, there’s that one guy who, no matter how big or poisonous the creature is, has to pick one up with his hand to create a spectacle for the camera and tension for the viewer. What I find remarkable about spiders is that they seem to have comparatively little fear. To me, it’s incredible that such a spider would simply allow itself to be picked up, while much larger animals would be terrified to be so close to a human and would quickly defend themselves. Because of this contradiction, I would never dare to intentionally get close to such an animal.

Arachnophilia thankyou very much for the info. I never buy anything on a whim, i do my research and know everything i can possibly learn before adopting any animal no matter how big or small. I use clay balls for drainage and spring tails in my enclosures that house my acanthoscurria geniculata as she requires damp coco fibre, but i know the therophosa species rely on humidity a lot more than most so i will have a tank with very good ventilation and drainage to help prevent mould, a hydrometre and temp gauge, although they are obviously not needed for most tarantulas, therophosa enclosures need a more steady climate. I use moss in all my enclosures, either dry for decoration, or wet for the ones that require more moisture.

Narrator: As she relaxes, she decides to go for a wonder The tarantula: *Wow this type of tree must be Vietnamese, I heard the trees talk over there* Yup, they rarely eat birds. The name bird-eater came from a copper engraving by naturalist Maria Sibylla Merian where she saw one eating a hummingbird back in the 18th century. Hollywood should use this footage for research on how to make proper jungle sound effects instead of just using the call of a laughing kookaburra over and over again
