Question for Viewers: What kind of mitts do you have? You can get these mitts I recommended here: revgear.com/mx-2-curved-focus-mitts/?aff=8

I do have kickboxing pads and live with relatives but can't ask them to hold them since they are over 60
@unit66combatsportsmma894 жыл бұрын
I used to use focus pads for a few years, but now I use coach spar mitts (ring side and twins pro) as I believe pad holding should benefit both the holder and hitter. I also use Sandee curved Thai pass and the fairtex donut pad. I use 2 different combo number systems for boxing, kick boxing and MMA. The coach spar mitts simulate a more realistic fight situation and also help improve my counters, parries and hand blocks, and also keeping my guard up

Sanabul, full sized. I hold them for the kid once in a while, I've never hit them myself. I'd like the micro pads if I was hitting them, I'm all about accuracy, I don't need to worry about power when I am hitting mitts. Uh, if I ever were to be able to hit them.

I have a basic disc style set of hand mitts and a pair of the long rectangles. I like the more catcher's mitt style you were showing but now isn't the time to replace stuff that is working well enough.

There's a time and place for both. I think if you're a novice pad holder than patterns are going to be more valuable... but play with the idea. Think of games like Simon and Bop It.

Im definitely looking to get tips from the holders side. I wana do more pad holding as a coach/instructor. But I'm still getting used to it from that side. I love hitting pads with a good coach, and I wana be a good holder as well. I had a good coach.
@IcyMikeP4 жыл бұрын
It's definitely good that you recognize it as a separate skill. Make your practice at it intentional, not just mindlessly repping things out.
@fireeaglefitnessmartialart9354 жыл бұрын
@@IcyMikeP last yr I got my first taste of pad holding without another coach overseeing or assisting. And the person had no martial arts background except for a cardio kickboxing studio like a month prior. And i realized the separate skill required for both trying to teach as well as using pads to teach. (The person i was working with was my friend's gf). And my capoeira instructor has allowed me the opportunities to work with new people on the side sometimes so I still get some instructional experience.

Hello, thank you so much for making this video. I am watching because my boyfriend is a Muay Thai fighter and all gyms are closed due to Covid. And, he's been using me to hold pads for him. I am a skinny girl 46 kg and he's muscly 60ish kg(like a fighter). Every time he asked me to do it it's been a pain in the a*s for me... though I really want to help him train and do this for him but I can't be happy and having fun doing it... Trying to figure out how to hold pads correctly but it seems I am horrible at it (as he complains every time since I started doing this) I tried to do good but I don't know if it's my weight that has to do with this that I can't keep holding my pads stably when receiving his punches... I need some suggestions I guess...
