Good round up! Interesting to see the Boxster issues, as a 987 owner (indeed I own two cars that can have water drain issues). There are 7 water drains on the 987 Boxster, 5 on the Cayman, they are supposed to be cleaned out every "major" service (which would only be every 4 years). As with the M135i video, your content reminds me why I pay through the nose for specialist servicing and am extremely fussy about history when buying. ANY sign of cost cutting, and/or spending on mods over maintenance, or just getting all the work done by places that won't know that car specifically, and I'm out. Drain holes are a good example - plenty of cars out there wth complex drain holes all over the place and expensive electonics sat right where it will get wet if they fail... Get a trombone brush in that Boxster!

Blocked roof drains on 986 and 987 Boxster are a proper pain. You’ve got away lightly, I had a car which mangled both roof and rear clam control arms, as well as the roof drain moulding…it necessitated removing the whole roof to replace them… it ended up needing loads of new parts to fix it, and that’s in addition to the body control module….flipping convertibles…!

I worked for BMW/MINI for 25 years and we use to get so many cars in with blocked sunroof drains and Convertibles which literally caused thousands of pounds of damage,a lot of cars had manufactures warranty but a lot didn't,we actually told BMW that these should be checked as part of the service schedule but they never listened to our advice.

I suppose the way they think is that by the time those drains block, there is a chance the car will be out of warranty, and so the owner will have to buy new parts to replace the damage😂

i got my son working at sytner bmw and thinks that the older bmws take a lot of beating , look at the cars now , all electric and the distance is the same because there electric , you cant beat the old m3 e92 what a tremendous piece of engineering.

The water rubber buckets either side will have been previously pierced by failed push rods which no doubt have been replaced already and now failed again after the roof tried operating itself. Get the carpets up both sides, dry them out, then chase your holes in the rubber buckets, they will be out of sight, its a doddle to remove the roofs on these, you will see them fully then. Bet there are holes, water goes down the holes rather than the drain points, people instantly assume its the drain holes, but this isn't the case I believe

Water in a boxster is a massive issue. £500 for the module under the seat seems very cheap. I seem to remember they need to be specially programmed when reinstalled too. Absolute pain. If you can sort it for under £1k I’d say you’ve done well.

Had a Tiguan as a demo for about 2 months. PSR footwell was a constant puddle. Sunroof drains blocked ended up damaging PF seat airbag module. Headache!

I have done what James ( chops) said about starting a hybrid 🤦 also that model of Rav4 is great , we have a 64 diesel and its great . Wonder what the hybrids are like in real life fuel consumption. Ours does around 47 mpg . In comparison the old 2.0dci Qashqai does about same on same commute and diesel mild hybrid Sportage about 10 mpg more

Had an auto renault 11 when it rained it would dance up and down its 3 speed auto. In the end I found the sunroof drains blocked. Cleaned out with welding rods and once done regularly the autobox behaved itself.

If you wanna get a hybrid engine to start just turn all the electrics on, especially the heated windows and the cigarette lighter ( if its got one) . Massive demand for electric will kick the engine into life ususally

@4:50 in the video someone rings enquiring for "the minibus". Chap tells him it's been sold, says goodbye and puts the phone down. Why doesn't he engage in conversation with the guy, find out exactly what he is looking for, his budget etc and then tell him that you are expecting one in in the next few days. Then go out there and get him a suitable vehicle asap! This is especially the case if it was the 2nd inquiry on that day for said "sold minibus".....

Many other cars on forecourt no inquires in that time. if it were me I would establish their interest, budget & contact info, tell them there is one due in a few days and get another one. Better to buy stock that you know you have 2 people interested in (and you have their contact details) than buy stock on spec....Each to their own of course but they missing a trick here...
