My mom is 93 & she quit cooking about 7 years ago, as she just couldn’t stand at the stove & cook, or then deal with the clean up that follows. But, she’s a wonderful cook & this is how she was & it’s how I am in the kitchen. Sure, I try to follow the recipe or cooking method for whatever I’m making. Baking has more exacting requirements but cooking breakfast or supper is generally very forgiving. Forgot to add the sausage? It’s not the end of the world. Just mix it in as best you can. It will be delicious, & no one will notice. I say relax and enjoy the process of making the meals/dishes your family & friends enjoy.

I'm 55 yrs old soon to be 56 yrs old next month. I can not tell you how many times I've been cooking or baking something and still forget to add a certain ingredient that is needed. Lol. I call my lapse in memory "brain farts", lol... There are even times when I'm just sitting and thinking of things I need to do and the very moment I'm about to go and do this "thing", I truly forget what I was going to do. This drives me crazy. Luckily, I'll remember a little while later, usually. I've just resorted to leaving posted notes around my house and car. Lol... this is a pain in the "you know what", lol...lol... but it sure helps me to remember. Seriously, all jokes aside I use to have a fantastic memory. I could remember people I just met names, birthdays, telephone numbers, etc ( thank goodness for cellohones, lol ). I appreciate getting older but the lapses in my memory is depressing at times. Lord...my hearing is getting bad too, that's a whole another story, lol...I'm just a hot mess. However, I thank God for every day he allows me to wake up. I really am a "count my blessings, not my sorrows" kind of guy. Anyway, I just thought I'd share this with anyone who can relate to what I'm talking about. Anyway, to ALL of those that can understand where I'm coming from please have a very blessed and safe day! Happy Holidays!!
