I use to work in retails too. The holidays were obviously the busiest time of year. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved the holidays and I still do, but being surrounded by Christmas decorations as soon as Halloween ended(and even before Halloween night), it's easy to get sick of it pretty quickly.

I feel that if the country you're in doesn't' celebrate Thanksgiving anyway, it's fine. But what's the excuse for the United States? For example I used to be severely annoyed that my country (Philippines) would celebrate Christmas extremely early even while Halloween is still going on. Halloween actually isn't widely recognized here or the big phenomenon anyway, so I just accepted it. But when I hear that the US is doing all this weird holiday mishmash, I'm just really confused. Aren't Halloween and Thanksgiving supposed to be major big important deals there?

I loved this rant. It was beautiful, and so true. My family constantly made me miserable on the holidays...and outside the holidays. So I stopped speaking to them, and now my holidays are all pretty great! Though I never have quite enough money to get people things I think they deserve. I feel like I always have to settle for a step down just so I can get something for everyone on my list.

Oof I felt that, getting gifts where the person was just basically cleaning out their home. My father visited me one thanksgiving as a kid and essentially gave me a laundry net basket of junk from his home and old stuff from my cousins. It had a pair of different sized crocs, slightly busted dolls and kiddie purses, a used Yahtzee board game and a B list animated Hercules movie (not Disney) and when I opened it there wasn’t even a movie inside.

I HATE seeing Christmas lights go up months in advance. Nothing gets more irritating than seeing Christmas lights up before Halloween. Christmas lights are fine but we DO HAVE a holiday in November! My mom has me set up her elaborate Christmas lights outdoors every year and I refuse to put them up until November. It's usually just me working on them so I usually start a week or so before Thanksgiving. I refuse to turn on the display until Thanksgiving is over. I work nonstop and have most everything up by Black Friday. To me, Black Friday is when it's okay to have all the Christmas stuff out.

My neighbors put up Christmas decorations instead of Halloween decorations. I'm mad that most of the stores got rid of their Thanksgiving decor a few weeks back probably when Halloween ended. I want to make a centerpiece but we had to improvise because so much of the decor was gone. Even Michael's betrayed us! I also like sweet potato pie, but no one else in my family does and they aren't keen on pumpkin. I cannot eat a whole pie alone...I just can't..
