Very informative! Not very many people out there doing in depth videos on some of the aftermarket ecu's. I like your videos because you explain what the cars are doing and how you're going to change the tune accordingly. This one will definitely help get a starting point if I go with Holley on my project.

I was going HP tuners. But after I downloaded the Holley software, it sold me. I came from strong arming an SRT4 mopar ECU to a Cobb access port for fords, and seeing the Holley made me take the dive. That being said, it’s more complicated than Holley would prob like you to believe. Buts it’s also Infinitely better and less complicated vs a Cobb accessport (or prob any other flash tuner for that matter ). Anyway, just wanted to say this is a great video. I’m sure it’s going to get a ton of views over time because I’ve searched for a video like this about 15 times in the last 3 months and mostly just come up with Holley videos of guys snapping connectors together and running simple N/A motors off the 3.5” touchscreen base tune and calling it a day. Truthfully, I already knew 90% of what your going over, but to learn anything is always a good thing ( I just tuned my buddies ford Mavrick with a GT40 302 and Paxton SC with a blow through and Holley super sniper Efi a few nights ago ). And it’s works great. My request is the same request someone else already made. Maybe go do a datalog, maybe even get some in car video while doing it ( how fast the car is or looks isn’t really relevant ) and show how the “bubble” moves around the scales live. And then go over the datalog with what you show in the video showing up on the datalog. Another tip.... since most people are looking at this for LS engines ( 1/2 at least ). Sloppy Mechanics (Matt) gives away his tune on the 1000whp 6.0L Colorado for free. This gives you a lot of great info. Like how and where to put tables in for an E85 sensor. 4L80e shift tuning with a lock up converter. Some examples of nitrous control ( one of my fav parts is that he has it yank timing A LOT when the nitrous engages, and then feeds the timing back in over rpm. It reduces the shock load on the bottom end and driveline.). So a lot can be learned for looking at examples of other people’s tune, even if they do not apply directly to you. Great video. Thanks for doing something unique that even Holley hasn’t done. If you can go any deeper ( I realize your in a race car and that only requires so much depth ), then I will def watch those too. Sharing video now :)

Thanks Bryan for the great reply I truly appreciate it! I will take everything you mentioned into consideration the holley is an awesome system and I keep learning more and more each day! Half of the battle is understanding the wiring as I ran into some issues last night on anouther guys car but getting through it! I would like to post complete how to at some point on boost control, nitrous control the new staging in v5 ect! I will do a data log video as soon as I can. I think that will bring alot of value to people! That's awesome your learning it as well! I really enjoy playing with it but sometimes it gets frustrating, but when it works it works extremely well! I’ve watched from a distance, Jay from real street tune my buddies twin turbo viper. It runs a zillion dollar Motec. And it’s 100x more complicated than the holley. My Cobb race tuner software is 10x more complicated. I think the super sniper is the way 90% of people should go ( unless you have a hemi, coyote, LS ). Sniper uses 90% the same software. Maybe try to do the traction control like Matt did and go more into it. It’s the best feature on my Cobb tuner ( 340whp fiesta needs ign based traction control ! ). Also maybe do a walk through on adding a random temp or pressure sensor. I’m personally using AEM 100psi sensors for fuel and oil pressure but you could use anything. Make it something weird if you can lol. Or even map the sensor out yourself with voltage/pressure-temp and then enter it into the Holley. Just ideas for content.

Could you do a holley efi (dominator or hp) video on coolant enrichment or fuel modifiers? I think this is a confusing topic, but is important when it comes to the self tuning aspect of the holley.
@charlieodom91074 жыл бұрын
Pretty good video!!! Just a personal opinion, but I try to keep all my fuel maps to within 3%, so I normally limit fuel to +10/-5. Another thing I do is to blend the fuel map on initial tune, before going WOT, then add 10% to any WOT cells and raise the fuel adder to 20%. This keeps the thing from falling on its face and possibly burning a piston or worse for the first WOT run. The Holly EFI system really works well, and is so much easier to tune than HP Tuners, albeit without all the fancy parameters.

quick question I'm considering setting up my 427 sbc with an HP mpi system...my engine only pulls 5hg at idle...from my understanding 02 sensors read very lean at idle with a big cam .will low vacuum like mine be able to be tuned at idle and will the map sensor run correct at other rpms with a heavy cam? any info would be great
@minnick996 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't zero out your fuel modifiers. Learn will work once the car is warmed up and the coolant temp enrichment goes down to 100%. You still want to have additional fuel when the car is warming up. Enrichment can taper down to zero around 160°.
@BuildTuneRace6 жыл бұрын
Mike Minnick makes since I haven't played with the fuel modifiers a lot. Ever since I started I learned somewhere to just zero the tables then you can go back and adjust accordingly. But it makes since that once it would reach temp it would allow the learn function to start working again!

It says you must select the correct brand O2 sensor or you could damage it what sensor comes with the Holley HP? They don't bother to tell you.

You can get it with the Bosh or NTK should have it etched on the sensor

@@BuildTuneRace It's not etched on the sensor which brand, it just says "Holley" and then I assume a part number. The other end is apparantly a Delphi connector. Looks like I'll have call Holley and ask. Seems like pretty vital information they left out.

FYI the LS coolant temp sensors are off at ambient but tend to be more accurate once you're at higher temps,, so be careful offsetting the entire curve like that.

@BuildTuneRace5 жыл бұрын
I thought there was a big block base tune start up file in the holley you could try that if it seems close to your combo. Just need it close enough to get started then you can start dialing in the fuel table from there if you find that it seems to be real rich you start by pull 20% out of the whole base map and go from there

Can you answer this. A tuner is trying to charge me around $600 for a tune. Can I get close to that tune level if I buy this system?
@BuildTuneRace4 жыл бұрын
Super hard questions with a ton of variables. Depending on system and what your trying to accomplish your level of tuning knowledge and the combo your trying to tune. If you can find a base tune really close to your combo and its a simple combo like a simple N/A with some learning you could probably get by. If your building a complex combo boosted or something high horsepower and you don't understand efi tuning your probably going to need someone to tune it. The Holley has a awesome self learning tuning strategy but it is not a plug it in and it will 100% tune itself unless its a simple combo even then a real tune will have benefits. Hope this helps!
