I attended a medical workshop about child trafficing 15 years ago and heard the stories of girls kidnapped and trafficked, how they were rescued, and all the work in therapy it took to help these girls regain their lives and become whole again. It was heart breaking. I learned as a medical professional how to spot these young women and help them. My eyes were opened and since then was able to talk to a few girls who appeared to be in the ER due to injuries from trafficking. It was always difficult to get them away from the person who brought them in and not successful usually on first attempt. I still think of the few I met and have no idea what happened to them, hopefully the hotline numbers were used. These girls were aboutv17, possibly 18 and were considered adults so social services not involved. This man is willfully blind.

I personally know a guy who works to bring down trafficking rings like this, where they have had to let the operations continue, because they can't afford to let them know that they've been discovered. There are so many layers to it, they have literally had to let them continue just so they can try to identify the leaders. If they try to bring it down too early, the guys in charge just disappear, and another ring starts somewhere else...and I'm from a small city, never thought something like that would ever happen here. Makes me so sick. It has affected my friend a lot too, I could never cope with what he's had to go through and see.
