The older someone is, the more painful today's movies, shows and commercials are. I'm over 50 so this forced social engineering really insufferable.

I'm in the same demographic, and I'll bet the people who were our age when we were young probably thought a lot of our entertainment --- movies, music, etc. -- was painful, pushing a bad message and attempting "social engineering." So, everything old is new again.

Social engineering was just as prevalent in your youth, but it was more subtle and usually packaged with a decent product.

@@springheeljak145 This is not social engineering they don't want nor care to change anyone of us peasants worldwide. The best market research is having boots on the ground and asking the consumer what the company can do to improve, and what the consumers would like from the company. How did Coca-Cola think that a cheaper substitute would go down smooth with the public? The worst thing an established company can do is give the consumer a product they didn't ask for while eliminating a product the consumers loved. Do not mess with a product that sells. Stick to the winning formula. There's a reason Coca-Cola had their winning formula under lock and key for a century. The same goes with entertainment. It seems that through their hubris, these companies continue to kill the geese that lay the golden eggs.

Sorry girls, back in 1937, the main jobs were hunting, heavy dangerous construction or breaking your back on the farm. I probably would've also opted to stay at home, cooking, cleaning and child rearing. Thanks, f u, have a coke and a smile.

Race and gender swaps would be okay to me IF the storytelling was great and there was no lecturing. Japanese anime has some great examples for how it's done right. But they don't claim to be true to history or anything near a biopic.

In my case, I quit watching superhero movies because I was getting tired of superhero movies -- it's no more complicated than that, and I suspect that might be the case with quite a number of people. And as far as "a message" or "politics" being injected into movies -- that's always been the case. Cinema -- like any other form or art and entertainment -- has always contained a significant element of social-political commentary, critique of the status quo, satire, push-back against social norms, etc. And, typically, it's always leaned toward liberal-progressive side views. Although there always have been, and still are, a few movies carrying a more conservative narrative. The first "Dirty Harry" movie immediately springs to mind -- it was criticized for supposedly being right-wing authoritarian. So, if you think movies all of a sudden got "political" or "woke," I would argue that you really haven't been paying attention. To name an example, the original "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?" movie from 1967 pushed a message that was incredibly "woke" and disruptive to the status quo of the time. And I'm sure social conservatives -- as well as many who considered themselves mainstream or moderate -- were livid about it. Again, that's just one example. Hollywood has always tried to push the envelope and challenge conventional social norms.

If Star Wars or Terminator came out today most people wouldn’t go watch it. The minorities that forced themselves to watch it and white males majority of viewer myths doesn’t exist to pay for these very expensive movies. They have options. Nike understood the real buying power and went with Kaperknick. Marvel success came with diversity. My mother heard Chadwick and Samuel L and became interested. White backlash is what has killed cinema. If other ethnic groups did that to movies they weren’t in,Lord of the Rings would have been fluff.
