Love the convo ab self awareness and trauma! I always tell ppl you can’t allow your trauma/hurt drown you! At some point it has to be a stepping stone into the better version of you! Life has been a struggle an at times I feel like I’m not any better than my mom! But I had to remind myself that I’m trying/ putting in effort towards being my best version!

When he talks about moving to New York and “i forgotten what real beauty looked like” which RESONATED. I’m from Cali, and I had the pleasure of going to D.C. at one time known as the Chocolate(Black) City & I realized I don’t know if I have ever really seen and accepted black beauty, so confidently and majestically displayed w/out juxtaposition to all the fakeness. More shocking is that black counterparts/ men also really seemed to exhault, validate and honor black beauty where before Id been traumatized in seeing them reject it. And as a beauty from TheBay & as Black American Princess I can with much gratitude, testify…It really changed my life!
